It specializes in offering bespoke services for off-site customers without any trials through technology and anthropometric database. This start-up venture is getting incubated at NSRCEL in IIMB, Bangalore http://www.nsrcel.org/.

My internship role in Tech-Tailor Solutions Pvt. Ltd primarily involved giving boost to its corporate sales. It comprised of the following tasks:

  • Identifying business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analysing sales options.
  • Selling products by establishing contact and developing relationships with the prospects.
  • Cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospects for new business.
  • Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.

So, after studying about the company and industry properly, I started segmenting various industries according to the types of uniforms employees working in its wear. Targeting industries according to the apparels Tech-Tailor provided and its vendors was paramount. Cold calling and walk-in visits helped me to reach the right companies.

The main objectives of my internship were

  • To align with organisational policy and generate profitable business
  • To create ‘long-term value’ for an organization
  • To build rapport with the prospects
  • To identify needs and challenges while dealing with corporate clients
  • To establish Tech-Tailor Solutions Pvt. Ltd as a trusted brand among the corporates
  • To target a specific profile of corporates
  • To highlight a niche that helps get better-qualified leads for sales

I worked directly under the Retail Head, Tech-Tailor Mr. Abhishek Jain and Founder, Mr Premjeet Singh. Their cumulative experience of 25 years in Retail Sector helped me gain meaningful insights about the industry, its working patterns and costing.

My internship at Tech-Tailor Solutions Pvt. Ltd has helped me gain meaningful insights into the textile industry. My project majorly included segmenting the companies according to the type of uniforms they wear and targeting those whose uniforms majorly includes shirts, trousers and blazers. Taking a lead in the meeting with prospects not only helped me gain experience in the field of sales but also helped me in gaining the required confidence. Learning how the cost of a shirt or trouser is fixed helped me understand that whether we can fulfil the prospect’s expectations or no, thus helping me communicate with them accordingly. My project also helped me in realizing that direct walk-ins have a better conversion rate than cold calling.

Listing of Tech-Tailor Solutions Pvt. Ltd. on various third-party websites like Urban Clap, HouseJoy.in, shaadimagic.com, shaadi saga, were good etc was another part of my project. It helped me improve my negotiations skills and also to understand which websites will be beneficial to the company and which will not. Along with B2B profile, I also handled B2C profile. It helped me learn how to handle just dial queries. Approaching different vendors helped me learn the important part of the operation i.e. the supplier’s side. When it comes to tailoring, how consumers are price, as well as quality sensitive, formed a big part of my learning lessons.
