CONTRIBUTION OF ABG IN MY LIFE The Aditya Birla Group is an Organisation that defines passion. It has the enthusiasm to reach the hearts of millions of people all over the world. The company desires to cater to the needs of the customers in every segment, thus investing in market sectors like cement, chemicals, fashion, telecommunications and many more. Near about every person in India is associated with this group in some way or the other. I have lots of memories that connect me to this corporation. When I was a child, I witnessed my house being constructed with Ultratech cement. I have even used that cement to build a "pollution-free city" model for my school project. I have noticed my elders getting dressed in Allen Solly and Peter England apparel, which gave them a classy and sophisticated look and inspired me to have a wardrobe for the same. During my Under graduation days, Aditya Birla Group visited our campus for placements, which was a significant event in my life. I didn't get placed in that company, but the experience of that interview & constructive feedbacks from the HRs made me ready to face the competitions in the future. I have been a user of the Vodafone Idea network which provided attractive services at affordable prices. The Aditya Birla Group is making India recognized on a global scale due to its continuous innovations and deep connections with the customers. OVERCOMING CHALLENGES TO ACHIEVE Challenges, obstacles, problems- these may sound like negative terms but the outcomes of these are always positive. These bring out the best in you and makes you a better person no matter what the outcomes are. One such incident happened to me during my employment days. I was an Area Manager given responsibilities of manpower & resource management in Alumina Handling System. I led a team of 70 indirect employees who belonged to different demographic populations. As I was the manager, I used to impose my orders on them and primarily aimed for the final results only. Sometimes without even considering their views, knowledge & experience, I used to make decisions. This worked for a while but once a crisis arised in our area due to my wrong decision & the problem was totally out of my league. I needed the support and help of my team to get out of it. But I could get none, due to my past conduct with them. This incident taught me the importance of teamwork. Being a manager and leader not only means to make the right decisions and be a good speaker. The most important part is to be a careful listener, understanding people's grievances and working on it. This realization compelled me to work on my leadership & team-building skills. I gradually started interacting with everyone around me in my workspace, even giving a hand in their jobs. I could sense their acceptance level increasing towards me. The result was that we successfully tackled Alumina crisis in January 2018 and were awarded "The Best Team ". “A leader is nothing without his team”, this saying has stayed with me since then. #ABGLP #ABGWOOME #XIMB
