My most memorable classroom experience was that in which the conversation between students and teacher transformed the classroom from a place of lengthy lectures into one of discussion. While classrooms are structured to cultivate reading, writing and critical thinking skills, our educator’s ultimate goal is to infect students with the very enthusiasm for active participation.
This last month has been a great start at IIM Raipur, and I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to attend this institution. From the last 20 days, my time spent here has made to stuck for few things that make this institution unique -
It’s been 3 weeks since I’m here, at IIM Raipur, in pursuit for the prestigious MBA degree and the journey to this institute, Institute of national importance wasn’t easy.
I am a fresher with engineering background so I thought the prestigious IIM Raipur will be a better choice for me. All the IIMs are known for the excellent courses and classroom experiences. The classroom experience that I experienced in IIM Raipur was phenomenal. There are diverse people from our batch with distinguished occupational backgrounds. You will get to know many people which will, of course, increase your networking and knowledge in different fields. Every topic discussed in the classroom has a different perspective from different people, which helped many of students to have a different thinking approach. As faculty are concerned, they are top notch and experienced in their own fields. Gaining knowledge and current affairs in the industry are blended in our courses. Professors help to clear our doubts and take the problem statement to next level for brainstorming. The Group activities and case studies are good and are the key learning of the curriculum.
May 29th of 2018 was the day I got my admission offer letter from IIM Raipur. Being a Computer Sciences student from Vellore Institute of Technology who had a job offer, this wasn’t my first choice. But due to certain personal circumstances, I was in the IIM Raipur campus on the 14th of July, 2018 with my two huge suitcases and a million apprehensions. I went straight for my registration and realized that this campus was completely student driven with the seniors actively taking part in the registration and hostel allotment process. After the room allotment, I got to see my cozy room and meet my roommate from Bhopal. Then I went around the campus which consisted of just one building with a common mess and gym. I was not surprised to see the infrastructure as I already got to know about it from my seniors.
I still remember the day I sat down all by myself a few days after my CAP interview and thought I didn’t do well in the interview. The colleges started releasing the admission results one after the other. Every time I entered my credentials to see if I made it, I saw “sorry, you’re rejected.” I almost lost all hopes of going to a good B-school in 2018. I was almost all set to prepare for CAT ’18 and fight all the battles all over again, one more time. Almost. That’s when I received a mail from IIM Raipur with admission offer to join the PGP batch 2018-20. My joy knew no bounds. I was more relieved than happy to know that I’m finally going to a great place. But the admission offers didn’t end there. I received emails from a couple of other good colleges as well. The most amazing thing anybody can have in life is a choice. The most difficult thing someone can have is multiple good choices. What makes a campus great is not the physical structure but the amazing people inside. I luckily knew some seniors who just graduated from IIM Raipur and other IIMs. I spoke to them about what each college is known for. I did primary research to understand more about each college, the pedagogy, the culture, the faculty and the life there.
IIM Raipur – Thank You for everything I dreamt of in a B-School.
A common dream shared by B-School aspirants is to get admission in a prestigious and renowned business school. CAT was a stepping stone I crossed with nominal hardships. Succeeding gave me motivation. But this was not the end.
