“You are next..please come in” – on hearing these words my already loudly hammering heart gave a start and I walked into the interview room.

There comes a turning point in everyone’s life which makes them understand their strengths and weakness. Having worked in an IT firm for 2 years, I realized, I have lot more potential than what I was doing then. Then began my thirst for MBA and finally landed in India’s one of the premier Institute XIMB.
Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
18th June, 2018 was the day of our orientation at XIMB. I remember a lot of excitement and a little bit of nervousness were the feelings running through my blood. Excited because this is going to be a new phase of my life where I will meet new people having a different perspective of life and due to the opportunities this college is going to offer in the next two years. The reason I was nervous was that I was afraid of failure. I was afraid if I am going to let down my college, professors, seniors and batchmates.
A strong alumni base of over seven thousand and a rich legacy of thirty years. What more can one ask from an institute. Yes, you are right. This institute is none other than Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
It all started when I decided to do higher studies after a great corporate work experience at Infosys Ltd. It is that time of the year when I prepared for different entrance exams for business schools and simultaneously doing my own research on the pros and cons of different B schools. I was happy when I converted XIMB for all the pros that I had jotted down.
A vision was born on 3rd of December ,1987 out of a social contract between the Government of Odisha and the Jesuit Society to carry out the research and developmental activities for the state and it was carried forward with 31 years of rich legacy to make it one of the most prominent B-Schools not only in the eastern region but across India.XIMB has stood the test of time and owned up to the numerous challenges it faced while trying to establish itself with the locational setup. Residing in the heart of the quiet and calm temple city of Bhubaneswar ,it is where everything comes to life. With more than 750 students on campus, with buzzing ideas and plethora of activities all round the clock ,the campus adds pages to the legacy of XIMB.The ever helpful “bhainas” around the campus has made many lives hassle free. The unending talks at X-Café,the X-Walks ,the X-life is what makes my campus X-quisite and X-traOrdinary.
Being a resident of Bhubaneswar, I grew up in the vicinity of XIMB. XIMB was 10 years older to me, yet we grew up together, honing ourselves every step of the way and trying to make a difference. As a kid, I’d pass through the road overlooking the campus and be amazed at the success stories my dad would often iterate about the XIMB alumni, some of whom happened to be his friends. Since its inception, the college had conveniently managed to woo the masses in this quiet city of Bhubaneswar and the state of Odisha, slowly garnering national recognition. But there was this mysterious veil surrounding the college which has always intrigued me. No one ever seemed to know about what goes about inside the college and the students were hardly seen futzing around the city. The only source of information was through the social media and news channels that talked about various achievements and accolades the college received. This conditioned me to place the college on a high moral pedestal and I desperately wanted to be a part of it.
