X-Ops - Nirnay And Aarohan - Xpressions 2018

X-Ops - Nirnay And Aarohan - Xpressions 2018

It’s that time of the year to bring back all the energy and vigour among budding managers of B-Schools. It is rightly said that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, but B-Schools aren’t a place where you can be dull, especially during the biggest fest of Eastern India, Xpressions’18. Classes, assignments, quizzes and exams are part and parcel of an MBA student’s life. While attending long lectures with the never-ending theoretical concepts of the business world, various thoughts cross our mind like “why can’t be these high fundas be taught in such a way that we can understand its practical application? Is it practically applicable in day to day lives or when and where am I going to get a chance to apply it?”

Every Child Deserves A Childhood - IIM Rohtak

The days of childhood are probably the most beautiful days of our lives; you don’t have to worry about things that adults worry about. Nonetheless, you have your own set of problems. Like you trying to avoid drinking that extra glass of milk. That extra set of Pokemon cards that your friend has, and you don’t. The latest game in the market that you can’t wait to lay your hands upon once you score a 90+ in your final term, and the apprehension of getting caught while wolfing that bar of chocolate from the fridge when everybody is asleep at night. These were all enormous problems that demanded all our time and attention. The 21st century has also added gadgets to the set of must-haves thanks to technology, making today the most beautiful time to be a kid.

Flight Of Fancy - XIMB

“Hey is it okay if you click a selfie with us?” – This is not the beginning of another funny song but was an earnest request by teams for a competition on XIMB’s campus. LitSoc, the literary society of XIMB had launched its flagship event on Xpressions, the management-cultural fest of XIMB. Aptly named as “Flight of Fancy”, it focused on weaving stories and using the persuasion skills and creativity of the students.

Life At FMS : Where Dreams Begin

When one thinks of FMS, the first thing that strikes their mind is the exceptionally low fees and the tremendous Return on Investment (ROI) that one can get when they enter this college. But FMS is way more than this. This can be justified from the top rankings from portals like Outlook, QS, TIME, MBAUniverse, etc. that FMS has received over the years.

IIM Shillong PGPEX 2018-19 Interview Experience In Kolkata

IIM Shillong PGPEX 2018-19 Interview Experience In Kolkata

At the outset let me state that IIM Shillong interview was my first ever management institute interview of my career. In fact, it had been 10 years since I had been to any job interviews too. Hence there was that element of anxiety yet there was the feeling of excitement and curiosity of interacting with IIM panel. With that state of my mind, the morning of 2nd July 2018 was spent on arranging all the documents needed to be shown to the panel and the travel to the venue was utilized for some meditative moments including brushing up the basics like why MBA, why IIMS, why PGPEX course, about myself etc. It is always helpful to call or consult near and dear ones especially parents to get their viewpoints and perspectives for these questions. Once I reached the venue of the Hotel Oberoi Kolkata at 1 pm, I met nearly 12 more candidates. We got a chance to interact with 2 profs who later happened to be from the interview panel. The process was kick-started by WAT Round where we had to write a 1 pager about “Monday” followed by a GD based on a case study which was roughly about what a recently posted employee should appraise his senior in a review meeting after failing to deliver on certain objectives due to several issues. After these rounds, we were asked to wait for our PI turn. This itself acted as an icebreaker and made us interact more freely among us and in general have a relaxed time. The interview felt like cordial discussions. Questions are always picked up from whatever we answer, so it is advised to keep answers short and crisp. I was asked the reason for leaving my current high remuneration job for an MBA, scope for a sabbatical, why MBA, why specifically executive MBA course etc. I was asked few sector based questions too involving competitor firms and how my firm stands out in its competitiveness. Based on my certain responses I was even asked the difference between Manager & Leader and Vision & Mission statements. Be prepared for any recent one-month current affair related questions like they asked me about Nipah outbreak. All in all the interview experience was smooth and felt good.
