To Sleep Or Not To Sleep? - You Can Sleep When Your MBA Is Over

That was my first day in IIM Udaipur. I woke up with doubtful thoughts that whether or not I belong to this place. The confusion becomes apparent when you have so many other options in hand. Wondering all of it I opened up my window and saw outside. The soft orange colour was emerging from the green valley just in front of me. The mighty mountains with the cold and fresh breeze left me bewildered. Happily, I got ready for my first class. The first person I met became my friend within no seconds. Everything around made me question my doubt of being a stranger to this place. The very first morning and I was of this place. In IIM Udaipur.
Swanky apartments, luxury cars and a pretty secretary in the office of a multi million company, this is what comes to your mind when you imagine your life post MBA. I started my CAT preparation with similar thoughts, investing two years of my life in an MBA courses and reaping the benefits for the rest of my life. But believe me, MBA is more than just the seven digit salary number. Returns are important but so is the decision of investing the efforts and time is. Through this post, I will walk you through my journey from preparing for CAT to landing up in IIM Indore or the planet-I as it is called.
It has been one month here at IIM Bangalore and never before have I really resonated with Kangana's dialogue from Queen so much.
It’s been more than a month since I joined XLRI. It still feels like a dream. I still imagine the possibility that someone will come and pinch me and say “wake up”. But while I am living this dream, let me tell you how my first month has been in fairyland.
McCarthy’s 4Ps of marketing are amongst the first jargons MBA students and aspirants come across. It is a matter of few sessions at your b-school and you don't realise when this jargon goes on to stay in the tip of your tongue every time. While McCarthy’s 4P have helped MBA students since time immemorial, there is another set of 4P which you will need if you are looking forward to make your way through the herculean MBA curriculum.(You will manage to have your part of fun through this anyway!)
Between IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad, or even IIM Calcutta for that matter, it would be too naive to say that one is better than the other. Considering that placements is the major factor in deciding an Indian b-school for most aspirants, the placement scenario in IIM A and IIM B is pretty similar. However, the culture and the course structure in these two Meccas of Indian education has stark differences. I will point out the differences based on which I made my decision to choose IIM Bangalore over IIM Ahmedabad.
Do you still remember the day you converted Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow? I do! Perfect bliss! And so would be yours. Not only for you but for all of your relatives. Everyone believes you are going to be rich and successful and a mini Einstein is born in the house.
