We are rational people. We think and analyse every situation before taking an action. Sometimes we tend to overthink, sometimes we reach a wrong decision but there are enough times when we rejoice. But one thing that remains constant and that is the analysis. We look forward to people to support us and guide us through. We choose our mentors at every stage. My journey to get into IIM was no different. The student teams of all institutes were so helpful and very quick to revert and resolve the doubts I had and it was fortunate to meet the seniors at IIM Kashipur and work with them over the last year and replacing them to guide the aspirants and hopefully working with them over the next year.
Where is Kashipur ? The day I traversed the length and breadth of our beautiful country, to come and study here at The Indian Institute of Management Kashipur, was indeed a fortuitous one. Kashipur was a city, back then not known by most. "Where is Kashipur?", was a question that I heard a lot. Little did anyone know that Kashipur is the touch down point for anyone going to the world famous Jim Corbett National Park. It is just about 40 kms from Kashipur and has one of the best cycling paths I have seen, we frequent the place on our cycle. Living and studying in the laps of mother nature is a gift, few have the fortune to get. The hill state of Uttarakhand is a hotspot of nature and beauty. I have done a fair bit of exploration and travel in my breif stay in Kashipur. My first trip was to Bhimtal, it was the outbound, icebreaker trip and we broke the ice, literally. This was followed by the impulsive ride to Lansdowne and the midnight drive to Jim Corbett, both very memorable trips. Then came the weekend sojourn at Nainital, after a hectic mid sem week. It was a much needed breather. Finally, the crowining jewel of all my trips, the winter snow at Auli and the Majestic Himalayas. Words would do little justice, so I stop here and urge you to visit these places. The natural beauty of Uttarakhand is one thing that has made me breathless on a lot of occasions. I came here to study management and I got a lot more than that. These facets I have penned down are just the tip of the iceberg of the place I now call home, Kashipur.
Excerpt From the Diary of a masked Vigilante under cover at IIM Udaipur : They have not discovered my identity yet. I am therefore uninterruptedly learning the IIM ways. The last encounter with my mortal enemy Bane had left me injured and broken. I am gradually recovering now. I have been here about nine months now, nine strange months. Time tiptoed, and when no one was looking, it sped. Some days found them pouring over assignments, skipping dinner to avoid the reprimanding mail that arrives from the professor if the submission is late by twenty three and a quarter seconds. Some days found them partying hard and waking up the next day with blurred memories of the night before. Yes, they indeed have a good time here. I am gradually learning to balance it all. They seem to all know me here, and frequently wear TShirts bearing my mark. I feel encouraged to reveal myself sometimes but I don't want to disappoint the forty odd kids who pretend they are Batman.
It is an important day at IIMU. The mini auditorium of a classroom CR-2 is full to the brim. No one needed an invitation to come to this meeting. One of the most important elections of the year – the Placement Committee Elections is in progress. The mood is solemn; the stage is set and the nominees after having moved through grueling elimination rounds stand facing the batch for the deciding round. Some look a little dazed at the proceedings, some determined and some made eyes at their friends sitting in the back row.
