Convocation: The Last Leg Of An MBA | Looking Back At Life At IIM Lucknow
Life is certainly uncertain,
Life is certainly uncertain,
Another year, another round of interviews. Aspirants queue up outside the gates of B-schools, hoping to make it in. Dozens of variables come into play in deciding the fate of the quintessential aspirant. The aspirant’s brain is a swirling mass of information about the top B-schools – the culture, opportunities, clubs, brand, academic rigour to name a few. As our tense aspirant awaits his/her results, the friendly neighbourhood aunt raises the stakes. She waltzes in your home boasting of the son of her second removed cousin who made it into the best B-school in the country. You think to yourself, ‘I had 99 problems, now I got 100’.
“Dost nahi, bhai hai tu mera” this simple yet strong arrangement of words depicts the beautiful idea of bromance. It refers to the camaraderie between two or more male friends for whom their bonding is for life.
There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who come in with a lot of expectations and those who have absolutely none and prefer to be surprised by the uncertainty of life.
B-schools are great places to be. Being a part of an MBA institute, you would go through many transitions – you learn, grow, become mature and get ready for corporate life.
The first year in a typical B-School mostly consists of some cultural shocks and a lot of pleasant surprises. After you are done trying to tame the breathing and battling organism that is a B-School, you start noticing the niceties of your campus and the things that make it bearable.
What should I write? I scratched my head, as I pondered over this question in my mind while sitting in the comfort of my hostel room at SCMHRD, taking a few sips of pepsi now and then, my mind took me back to the time when I joined this beautiful institute nine months back. I am a simple, normal girl who loves to dream and clearly, working as a software engineer wasn't enough for me. I wanted something more. MBA was that "more." By "more" I do not mean a CV pointer or an added skill or some new area of knowledge. Of course, all these hold true but what I was looking for was a new EXPERIENCE.
