Back in Dec 2018, I had a sudden realisation. I wanted to pursue management studies and not prepare for UPSC, which was an aspiration instilled in me from an early age. Next up was telling my parents and trashing their dreams of me moving around in a flagged car, especially with the premise of me being considered flighty around my career choices. Surprisingly, things went smoothly, and the next day, I was sitting across from an admission counsellor. I joined a coaching institute as I knew I needed a competitive environment, discipline and a structured approach.

QA (Quantitative Aptitude) is probably the most dreaded section for every non-engineer appearing for CAT. As a commerce student myself, I was very much afraid of quants for a vast part of my preparation. There was a point of time during which I wanted to quit my CAT prep just because my quant mock scores were very low. But I kept practicing without losing hope and eventually got a 97.1 percentile in QA. It may not be considered as an excellent score but it was a great improvement from my first mock score of 42 percentile and being afraid of not clearing sectional cut-offs for QA. Here are a few steps/tips which can help a non-math student crack the QA section.

Sujala was employed with Texas Instruments, Bangalore, from July 2018 to September 2020. She is an Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Delhi. She secured an overall CGPA of 9.49, held Department Rank 2 in college and was awarded Merit Scholarship for all four years of her graduation. She completed her schooling from Delhi Public School Dwarka, Delhi. She got 95% in class XII and was offered the INSPIRE Scholarship for being in top 1% of the AISSCE 2014. She secured a CGPA of 10 (9.833 with all 6 subjects) in class X. Sujala is also a Government of India licensed amateur radio operator. The license allows her to communicate over the radio for non-commercial purposes. She is deeply interested in bringing a positive change in the society and is presently volunteering with Delhi based NGO, Wishes and Blessings. In her free time, she loves to draw mandalas and play. She has also represented her company twice in inter-corporate sports events. She has joined IIM A's Class of 2023.
