Here at the hill-top of beautiful Lavale campus of SIBM Pune, I am sitting amidst soft soothing winds and beautiful sunset, pondering upon the thought that what makes my campus unique. Having spent almost a month into this exciting and adventurous life of MBA, here I am in peace (finally!) hearing the sound of peacocks, getting a moment to myself amidst nature thinking what makes my campus UNIQUE?
4th June 2018. My B-school dream has finally begun. After months of twisting my brain around algebraic equations, interpreting data sets in ways only I could imagine, and reading passages whose experience can only be described by words which can make a sailor blush, I am here. SIBM Pune. Phew. Self-Clap.
On 4th April 2018, when I got to know that I have made it to SIBM, Pune I thought that was the best day of my life, but I was proved wrong as soon as I stepped into this awesome hilltop campus at Lavale. Before coming to college as any prospective student would do, I researched about the college and every website which I would go the only thing which I could find was that “COLLEGE CAMPUS IS AMAZING”. After reading one after the other posts I became impatient and was eager to see if what everybody were saying was actually true.
Sat atop the Lavale (read lovely) hills, SIBM Pune is a hotbed of biodiversity. From reptiles, birds, insects and bees along with various types of evergreen trees makes this campus truly unique. The semester starts here in the month of June and coincides with the arrival of monsoon in this part of the country. Not many people have the fortune to study in a business school engulfed in the midst of clouds and mist and interspersed by the calls of peacocks and owls. The occasional sightings of the snakes and the bull frogs do scare the students but the cool breeze and lush green cover soothes the senses and instills a sense of calm among students.
SIBM , PUNE abbreviated as Symbiosis Institute of Business Management is one of India’s premier B school. It is under the Symbiosis International University and is the flagship institute of the university amongst many others . The B school is giving tough competition and run for the money to other B schools of India.
I am not sure if any college in India is as scenic and pristine as SIBM Pune. The hilltop campus that we are in makes our college unique. It is situated far from the main city and the students can feel a sense of calm and connect with nature. The beauty of the campus is accentuated especially in the rainy season. The mist and fog that are just out of reach of our fingertips. You could have both rain and sun in the same day to add to its appeal. It is like you are living in the midst of heaven. We are also surrounded by a rich wildlife which could give amazon jungle and its species diversity a run for its money. Anybody who has ever been to the campus would encounter questions like “Is this a hill resort” and the answer is “It is my home for the next 2 years”.
Symbiosis means a mutually beneficial relationship between different people or groups and Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, gives complete justice to this. Firstly, I believe, this campus provides a great platform for students to gain an all-round learning experience to interact with all sorts of people. People, not just from a different cultural and educational background but from various countries as well. The best part about it is that, factors such as age, gender and/or work experience do not act as hindrances in an open and healthy communication among peers, inside as well as outside the classrooms. Secondly, the entire working of the college is student-driven. Right from admissions to placements, every activity is handled by students only. This gives students a platform to apply theoretical knowledge in real life scenarios. Everybody has something new to look forward to every single day. Also, let’s not forget to talk about the beautiful location where this campus is located. Besides being one of the premier B-Schools in India, the USP of SIBM, Pune is its hill top location. You never are truly bored here. Even a mundane Monday morning becomes extraordinary, when you see a peacock dancing right outside your classroom! Having said all this, I feel, SIBM, Pune is a complete package and it is my privilege to experience all of this first hand. One month into this journey has transitioned my life, taught me to continuously upgrade and improve my skillset and made me believe in myself a little more everyday. I look forward to my upcoming journey eagerly!
Ever since I got the offer letter from SIBM Pune, I had been hearing lots of positive reviews about its campus. Everyone I was talking to, be it the alumni or current students, all started their conversations by saying that you’ll be amazed by it. However, since I did my engineering from Manipal, which has a breath-taking campus itself, I took each of their statements with a pinch of salt, thinking ‘How much better can it be?’.
