Aditya Birla Group : Empowering lives

Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. It was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. The company deals in products like viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. The Group's cement business was earlier under Grasim Industries and UltraTech Cement. The two entities have now been merged into UltraTech Cement to form India's largest cement company. UltraTech Cement was acquired from L&T in 2004. The Group's non-ferrous metals' business is under Hindalco Industries. Hindalco makes alumina chemicals, primary aluminium, rolled products, alloy wheels, roofing sheets, wire rods, cast copper rods, copper cathodes and several other products. The Aditya Birla Group is the world's largest producer of Viscose staple fibre. Apart from viscose staple fibre, the group also owns acrylic fibre business in Thailand, viscose filament yarn businesses and spinning mills in India and South East Asia. Aditya Birla Group sells in-house and other branded apparel via brick-and-mortar and online stores. The group's firm Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd sells in-house brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and People via their individual brand stores and through other multi brand outlets. Idea Cellular was started as a joint venture with the AT&T and the Tata Group. Having a strong presence across the life insurance, asset management, lending (excluding Housing), housing finance, equity & commodity broking, wealth management and distribution, online money management portal—Aditya Birla Money MyUniverse, general insurance advisory and private equity and health insurance businesses.

I still remember how excited I use to be whenever I visited our maternal grandparents. More than anything it was Nanaji’s ambassador car that intrigued me. Applying gears with hands and coming to receive us on station, it was not just a car but a pride that he carried and cared. I still remember how I use to fight for the front sit with my cousins and being the youngest ended up acquiring it.

My Experiences With ABG- TAPMI

India has always been a land of trade and very few organizations have a history that is linked to both evolution and contribution of the same. Aditya Birla group is one of those pristine organizations that has foresaw and sustained such dynamic changes from the year 1857. With a diverse portfolio in terms of business domains, I would like to particularly share my experiences with the various domains.Being a 90’s kids we grew up watching Friends and many other sitcoms that reflected upon the lives of US citizens. Being from a tier-2 city malls and big fashion outlets were things we used to wonder about. But the realization and enchanting experience came when the first lifestyle store opened up in my native city. The whole concept of having a shiny complex dedicated to the display and sales of quality clothing was enthralling at that time. I visited the store with my family and can now recall those memories as happy childhood shopping memories. There is recollection of those memories every time I visit the store. With this experience, I have observed that some organisations become a integral part of our lives. With relationships comes responsibilities. Being an Indian company, I always take pride in ethical conduct of the organization. As a customer, I have never returned without getting a proper support.As a business student, I was reflecting upon the various values inculcated in the organization that has led to forming of such beautiful customer relationships and the things I could point out on a broader perspective were innovation and customer centered  approach adopted by the organisation.

Aditya Birla Group - The Air beneath my Wings

Every college girl hides a little shopaholic within her and Aditya Birla Group is like a Gennie which keeps fulfilling my wardrobe needs day in and day out. Aditya Birla has been answering to my shopping desire since ages. Large part of my teens involved me running towards the nearest Forever 21 stores for all my casuals. One thing constant in my continuation parties, farewell, birthdays and freshers were Aditya Birla products. And now as I enter the new phase of my life, MBA college, Aditya Birla group is still silently filling the wind beneath my wings. This time the brand has changed from Forever 21/ American eagle to Van Heusen/Allen Solly but the confidence and comfort they provide remains the same.

Our past experiences define who we are today.Each experience gives you an opportunity to reflect upon your actions and improve yourself. I have had experiences which have shaped my personality and made me an emotionally strong individual .Once my father's business suffered huge losses which deeply affected the financial situation of my family but seeing my father's persistence during those days made me realize that if one believes in himself, he can always grow from the ashes. his commitment helped me turn into an individual who is always ready to fight the odds and never wants to give up. During those days, I decided to help my share the responsibility of our family's finances and started giving private tuition to younger students. Although it was tough to manage  but I never allowed the same to affect my academic grades and tried my best to help my family in every possible. way. The entire scenario made me realize the value of family and never give up attitude.

One question that I struggled a lot to answer, Have you ever been a part of any social service? Are you associated with any association which looks after the well being of society? I always used to scratch my head and revisit my past and wonder that there might be one incident which brought revolution but I was always left with a blank answer. But now when I look back, the situation is not the same. After being a part of a premium B school I can look at this question with a different perspective. We often do not observe the small things around us which do bring a huge change in the lives of people.
