Aditya Birla Group. An Indian multinational conglomerate with a revenue of US $44.3 Billion in 2018. It spans across 34 countries with 1,20,000 employees of 42 nationalities. It is actively involved in 14 industrial sectors like Cement, Carbon Black, Branded Apparel, Mining, Chemicals and Banking to name a few. Being a global and national leader in multiple businesses, it has impacted multiple lives in a positive way.
The year after my graduation is the hardest I have had till now. It’s difficult to manage several things at once but what I found more difficult was to not have several things to occupy your mind. Like many of us I too decided to take an year break to study for CAT. Little did I know that I am not like everyone else. Unlike every other friend of mine, I wasn’t able to concentrate on studies or to handle the pressure of not being able to do one thing which I decided on.I who had always excelled in academics and simultaneously have been a president of an NPO, could not do one thing properly.With failure comes jealousy, I was jealous of my friends’, brother’s success. It was difficult to talk to them and hear them move forward. I started locking myself in and did not use to talk to anyone for days. My parents got worried.The exams came and went. I somehow took the exam, knowing that the results will be bad. It was at this time my mother told me what’s the most important thing in life, to keep moving forward. Rather than looking back and to keep regretting it, it’s better to learn and move.I soon joined a firm. It was from here on my determination became strong and I was able to work as well as study at that time and able to get into a good business school.
The year was 2004. A man had just left his town for a job in the big city. Back home, he had a family – a wife, a son, and a daughter. He had never been away from his little girl before for this long. He knew that the little girl missed her father dearly, torn by his absence. Thinking of her, he couldn’t resist. He picked up his cellular phone and called. A few hundred miles away, a girl jumped with joy as she exclaimed, “Papa!” An Idea changed their life.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Aditya Birla Group, is the logo because we have seen it everywhere. From when I was young, though I didn’t know what it was, I was quite sure that it was huge. And as we grow we hear and learn a lot about major brands in India and Aditya Birla Group was always there.
In the fastest moving era, where each and every second counts, struggle and challenges has become one of the integral aspects of everyday life. Rapidly advancing technology, evolving customer needs, climate changes, threat of epidemics and pandemics, water security are the macro level challenges which is prevailing over the world. If the view of challenges is reduced to much micro level, it can be approximately derived that everything is directly or indirectly rooted to one of the most complex architecture of this universe- ‘The Human Mind’.
One fine evening, I received a call for the first interview of my life for a job that suited the best of my interests. As per the norms, I was supposed to wear a ‘Business suit’ that would reflect the professionalism that was engrained in me. To look my best at the interview, I went to buy the suit at an Allen Solly store near me. On the day of the interview, my caring mother gave me Paranthas wrapped in a Freshwrapp foil paper because it would keep the food fresh till consumption. Right from a meagre foil paper to the Allen Solly business suit and everything else, Aditya Birla Group has been an integral part of my life in more ways than one.
