First of all, let me congratulate you on making it this far. I am hoping your preparation for the interviews are in full force and this article will help you to shape it even better. Here, I have made an attempt to collate interview experiences of my friends who are from various backgrounds and are currently, first-year students at MDI Gurgaon.
IIM interviews can be an experience of a lifetime. Those 20-30 minutes spent in front of an IIM interview panel can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds, and no matter how much you prepare, the pressure can get to you at any moment. These interview are also known to be unique and interesting - from candidates performing live stand up comedy to singing a song or reciting poetry, nothing is off the table in an IIM interview. One such memorable IIM interview took place in the life of Suyash Wagh, a hospitality management graduate from one of India's top institutes who, after scoring a 94.3 percentile in CAT 2019, was ready to face the heat of the CAP round for admission to India's renowned IIMs. Here's how Suyash faced the heat and stayed in the kitchen.
Shamanth M K scored 98.6%ile in CAT 2017 but was unable to convert his IIM Kozhikode call. In 2018, with 99.29%ile, it was imperative that he convert his IIM Shillong call. Coming from a diverse background, which includes mountaineering, organizing treks, and work experience in an AR company, Shamanth was confident that he could convert his call if he went into it with confidence. He was certain that his mountaineering background would be put under scrutiny, as well as his engineering background, and that's exactly what happens.
