I still do remember the excitement of getting my first b-school call, a feeling quite difficult to put into words. After slogging to get that perfect score in CAT, an interview call seems to be the recognition of all that hard work. You know you have crossed the first hurdle and are ready to battle with the next one. B-school calls are not just a culmination of your efforts but an opportunity knocking at your door. You now need to leave no stone unturned until you reach your final goal. No one formula can help you convert your calls. But, here’s what I feel could be helpful to plan your preparation:
Now that you have cleared the first step of getting into a coveted b-school, it is time to face your competition face to face. Clearing the written tests is only half the job done. If you think you are good at GD’s and interviews, well think again, because almost all your competition thinks the same way. The differentiating factor now is going to be content, presentation and confidence.
Shortlists are coming out left, right, and centre. So, if you have been shortlisted or if you are expecting a call, this is for you. The importance that you give to CAT and other exams has to be given to this stage of the selection process as well. Maybe more. As the stakes just got higher. Not getting a call is one thing but not converting the calls is another. Don't be that person. Be prepared and prepare right away.

Stress, nervousness, impatience, anxiety, and uneasiness are conventional emotions that you experience with every timid step you take towards your interview room. Questions pop up in your head – Will I be able to impress the interviewers? Will I have all the answers? Will my answer of ‘Why MBA’ be liked by them? Will I convert this call? Things seem very individualistic and selfish, dominated by “me” and “I”. Well, that’s pretty natural!
The results of CAT will be most probably out by the second week of January and your WAT-PI round will be conducted in mid-February or later. This gives you roughly a time of 45 days to prepare for WAT-PI round. Although some of you might have already started preparing for WAT-PI but for those who haven’t, 'start your preparation now'. It is not late and even I started my preparation around this time only last year.
