Two days of orientation completed at one of the most renowned, yet mystical firms in the world. We were taught everything, from the much-celebrated McKinsey way of problem-solving (MECE anyone?!), handling tough client conversations and the charismatic ways in which the firm defends its values. In the same breath, we also dealt with more mundane matters such as pre-loaded PPT templates and Excel (life-savers, as we’d like to christen them!)
A CBSE student scoring north of 99% reminded me of a couple of friends of mine.
My internship at HP Inc. has been a perfect blend of learning and delivering. The experience in my eyes couldn’t have been better. Lovely mentors, great HR's, and an open environment full of positive people. Some striking features of my experience at HP includes a unique selection process (build a presentation on BREXIT overnight with random people whose names were mailed- present it- conversation oriented interview), joining the company and getting beautiful gifts, Eating Pizzas with the MD and talking about the company, its open environment and productive ecosystem, presenting the country heads my work and... yes, it is true... no boundaries of office timings! My project was to assist in deriving a business model of a program that my mentors were working on and its marketing strategy and the only evaluation criteria for me was performance. Since it was a live project my learning from it has been immense which can be funnelled down into the following 6 points:
1) Reliance Jio disrupted the market with it offers for data plan. Initially free and now the rates are cheap so it has attracted a lot of users. There are online streaming applications where you can stream literally anything. But here it is more with Sports Content. And now the date rates are cheaper so a lot of people have been watching IPL online. People are now watching their favourite shows online and also the market for the same is growing rapidly. And m0re Indians are exposed to Internet on a daily basis. Reliance Jio has benefited a lot of applications as the traffic to their apps have been increasing daily.
Domino’s franchise, in India, is under fire.
How much experience is enough before you decide to do an MBA? The age-old question with no definite answers. 'It Depends' - seems to be the popular answer.
