A diverse personality, Gouri has done her engineering, worked with the Tata Group, and then joined IIM Calcutta for an MBA. Having worked with the Tata Group before, it was always her first choice to get into the world of the Tatas again, but this time as a manager. And so she did. We spoke to Gouri to trace her journey of #SettleForMore. Here are the excerpts:
Current Affairs is a very important section in a GD-PI-WAT process. Current affairs topics can be asked in GD & WAT, where you have to discuss with other participants or write a small article on it. Though only a few questions are asked from the candidate during the interview, it tells a lot about the candidate. Also, many times current affairs are asked from candidates with low or no work experience. So, when an interviewer asks a question related to current affairs, his/her motive is to identify whether the candidate has knowledge about his/her surroundings and world affairs or not. After analyzing your knowledge on current affairs, the interviewer moves to another aspect of current affairs, i.e., “ What is your opinion about it?” because till now, you were stating facts, and now the interviewer wants to know about how you perceive the world around you. They want to know your thought process.
July 25, 2019, an ordinary day in the timetable of most individuals, but it was an extraordinary day in my life. I left PwC, a dream firm for many, to steer my way in the uncertainty. My arduous deal for CAT 2019 began 6 days after that from July 31, 2019. I had exactly 115 days with me for the D-day scheduled on November 24, 2019.
Now that CAT results are out and XAT results are soon to be released, it's time to start planning your next step towards your dream business school. While some institutes have begun releasing their shortlists, a few others have further rounds of selection to shortlist only the most suitable candidates. One such institute is MICA, which will be conducting MICAT 2 on the 30th of January in 2021.
MICA, also known as the 'Mecca of Marketing', is one of the few leading business schools that accepts both CAT and XAT scores. Moreover, even candidates with less than a 90th percentile score in CAT or XAT can apply to MICA's prestigious PGDM-C and/or PGDM program. However, candidates must also appear for at least one of the two MICAT exams conducted to be eligible for selection.
So how exactly does one crack an exam like MICAT? How is it different from the likes of CAT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP, IIFT and other exams? What additional syllabus would you need to cover to get a good score? What is a good overall exam strategy? How do you prepare for the GK section of the test?
