The best transition in a B-School is the transition from being a junior to being a senior. Though the basis of being called a senior is “We joined the college one year before you”, the difference in experience that the year makes is immense. Notably, a few of my best and worst habits have been a product of the influence seniors have had on me.
IIM Kozhikode has released its official summer placement report for the batch of 2022. The summer placements process, which was completed over a span of just 3 days, saw participation from a host of marquee recruiters like BCG, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, TAS, AB InBev, American Express, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon amongst many others. Consulting, which was one of the most sought after domains this placements season, saw a whopping 73 per cent increase in the number of offers made. Here are the key highlights from the report.
Logical Reasoning tests how you can solve a dilemma with a few clues and scribble down more or half of the knowledge you need. It contains topics such as Arrangements, Selections, Cubes, Venn Diagrams, Network Diagrams, Puzzles, Sequence, Family Tree, Input-Output, Odd One Output, etc.
With great power comes great responsibility, and my responsibilities increased when I got promoted to Assistant Manager at Escorts Ltd. The workload was increasing day-by-day for me, so as the aspirations of becoming a future leader and grow more. So, I started with my preparation in June 2019 and tried to give 3 hours daily by studying during office breaks and late nights. I gave CAT 2019; however, it didn’t go well for me, and I scored only 93.29 percentile. Just one week after the CAT exam was IIFT, and this time, it was supposed to be conducted online. I knew I had a bad day, so I didn’t lose any hope. I gave my 100% in those six days, and my hard work turned into a fruitful result and helped me crack one of India’s prestigious b-school, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. I scored an overall 98.84 percentile with 97.01 percentile in Quantitative ability, 98.01 percentile in Verbal Ability, 90.68 percentile in GK, and 69.54 percentile in Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.
Once you are done with the mammoth task of taking the CAT exam, you will have a fair idea of how you have fared in the exam. Be it good or bad, there is no time to spare. Given the current conditions, the interview procedure might see some changes as most of them would be conducted online, however, it is advisable for the candidates to prepare questions about themselves, their background, work experience, common concepts from their respective fields and of course, current affairs. Here are a few experiences shared by the current students of SPJIMR :
The UPL’IIFT’ Series- spearheaded by the Media Committee, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, in collaboration with InsideIIM is an initiative to help aspirants understand and prepare for the IIFT Entrance Exam with strategies exercised by some of the top performers.
With the official CAT 2020 answer keys and response sheets out, people have already started calculating their chances of getting a call from their favorite B-School. They have been as detailed as they can be in their analyses. I've even seen posts in different forums where aspirants have made elaborate charts depicting the distribution of CAT scores (from a coaching institute's list) and other variations related to it! And obviously, multiple coaching institutes have released percentile predictors depending on your score. While these are exciting and will keep you engaged during these anxious times, they do have an effect of heightening your anxiety. People expecting interview calls from select B-Schools might lose their motivation to see themselves on the lower end of the curve. Conversely, someone exceeding their expectations might get overwhelmed and start worrying a lot, affecting their preparation.
