Why I Chose MBA Over LLM | Dipanjan Roychoudhary, IIFT Delhi 2020-22

When one typically thinks of a CAT aspirant, the first image that comes to mind is definitely not that of a lawyer. Maybe an engineer, or an economics graduate from DU or other colleges. My reason behind writing this article is simple. To encourage more law graduates, especially those working in the corporate sector, to take up this path, for the reasons enumerated below. I am a graduate from National University of Study and Research in Law Ranchi, batch of 2017. I worked in Wipro and Flex for two years before resigning from my job in order to pursue an MBA. I aim to help fellow aspirants from the humanities field in cracking management entrance exams.

More than 2.2 million human beings around the world got positive by the most negative word called “CORONA” in more than 185 countries (As on April 18, 2020) and around 147 thousand humans lost their life. Most importantly millions of people got affected by the most deadly disease called fear. “The fear of Uncertainty”. The Uncertainty is not only among common man but also among Doctors, Investors, Economists, and most of the governments. It’s because we have not seen such a serious epidemics outbreak in the known past. Apart from that, this will also lead to lots of financial and economical Uncertainty. Sometimes it’s important to refer history to come up with a solution but unfortunately, now we don’t have such references in the past.

When Sohum wrote the CAT in 2017 for the first time, he knew he would not make it to the top IIMs of the country. This engineer from Haldia Institute, West Bengal, decided to go on and work at Infosys while preparing for his next 2 CAT attempts. Throughout 2018 and 2019, Sohum continued to work at Infosys as well as on his MBA dream. Finally, this time around, in 2019, Sohum managed to crack the CAT with 99.98%ile overall and a whopping 100%ile in the VA-RC section.
