For my Summer Internship Project at L’Oreal, I was given a shopper marketing project for Garnier and I had to focus on Modern Trade.
Never having lived away from my home state of Jharkhand, going to Mumbai, the so-called “City of Dreams” and interning at an organisation like Johnson & Johnson which has a rich past, I was looking forward to my first ever corporate experience. I was looking forward to living my dream.

Having a graduation degree in Economics, I did not harbour hope when one of the most prominent IT companies in India was established to be visiting our campus for a summer internship in the HR domain. Cognizant was expected to pick engineers, and being an art student, I was pleasantly surprised to get a shortlist for the same.
“Sell your senior”, they call it. I got a very funny submission for this task from one of these juniors and I planned to meet him. He was almost as curious as I was when I had joined MDI. He asked many questions but one that made me reflect on my internship experience was – “Did you always want to go into consulting?”

What is your destination in life? The meaning, the very purpose of your life? The Endgame? This question has troubled so many of us, for such a long time. Many of us actually learn the answer at a very nascent stage of life and others like me, well, we struggle to find our spot. After joining SRM University as a computer science major, I thought I had found my calling. And I did, at least for a couple of months.
