At IIM Calcutta and many other business schools, the second year is only about electives. We have a great range of electives, and I will not be able to justice to all of these in this post. Yet, I have tried to consider important ones from each discipline.
Here is a list of the major textbooks followed within each discipline at IIM Calcutta in the first year. Keep in mind that all the courses in first year are compulsory.
The biggest dilemma for aspirants arises when they get admission to a college which was not their initial target. For instance, if you were targeting A, B or C (referred to as “ABC” henceforth) and end up getting calls from L, K, I and others - what does one do then?
The world of business is changing rapidly - from technological innovation to rapid globalization, many disruptive elements are influencing how the world goes about conducting business.
Having previously worked in a sister company of M&M, I knew about the opportunities that each person associated with this organisation gets to achieve what they have always looked for. I was overjoyed to receive another chance to go back and do my summer internship with the Mahindra Group and had been waiting for the day, 2nd of April 2019 to be precise, when I would join at their Worli office, with 30-odd brightest minds from other B-schools. Imagine the amount of learning one would have at such a place, with such wonderful people!
What is life, if not an assortment of journeys? Some are more special than others, nonetheless, all of them contribute to your identity. The journey, that I am going to talk about is not yet over but it's so special to me that I better document it from the very beginning so as not to miss the minute details that I had cherished so much.
Expectations from summer internships differ across a cohort of students. Some folks are excited by the idea of spending their stipends on everything they have always wanted, others want to network with professionals, some, only have an eye on the golden goose - The PPO . Very few, however, want to learn and have fun. Along with a few others, I fell in the last category. Right after I got to know I would be joining Mahindra, like any other summer intern, I spoke to many professionals associated with Mahindra, to see if my ideas would be appreciated here. These conversations got me fairly excited about working here.
I remember the day when I was chosen for the GMC program at Mahindra. It was bright and early in the day, when the news came to me regarding being chosen and it filled me with joy, and the excitement since then only increased. So, few months later, there I was, packing my bags and totally ready to have an experience that I felt would shape my future.
