Being an ER Secy (External Relations Secretary) is a rewarding and challenging position at IIM Calcutta. 2 students are elected from the batch of first-year students each year. They represent IIM Calcutta to incoming students, media bodies and alumni. To understand more about the role, I talked to Aayushya Aggarwal who is one of the two ER secretaries for this year.
A B-school has many activities and experiences on the professional front apart from the academics, placements and case competitions. And like in all of these fields, competition is intense everywhere. It is no different when it comes to the year-end awards given by the institute. Apart from the awards given for brilliant academic performance, there are a few given for extracurricular achievements and leadership abilities. A rigorous process is followed, which includes nominations from the student community, followed by them voting for the selected nominations. The winning students are then felicitated by the institute during convocation.
Looking back in time, I feel like my MBA had just started yesterday. It was only a few days ago, i.e. on 30th March 2019, that our director gave the graduating batch a farewell speech. But I still distinctly remember his Day 1 speech on the transformational journey in the next two years. It has been no less.
Since I am an Engineer graduating in 2019, Everyone around me was determined to prepare for GATE.
It is the month of April and the IPL is back with a bang. Will CSK win it again this time or will Delhi Capitals spring a surprise? Doesn’t matter; after all cricket is the real winner, right? So with cricket fever plaguing everyone, let us see how these teams would behave, IF they were in a B-school.
