Why MBA? Isn't it the most asked question in MBA interviews? We look for blogs, Quora, coaching materials to get the best possible framed up answer but we are never satisfied (At least I was not).
Professor Tarun Jain, Faculty at IIM-Udaipur, was recently voted by the students of IIM-Udaipur as the InsideIIM Professor of The Year! He was kind enough to answer a set of questions we posed to him around his experiences as a Professor at one of India’s top IIMs, teaching some of the brightest minds in the country. Here is what Professor Jain has to say –
Unfortunately, this is not a heroic story. It is the story of the journey which almost every CAT aspirant goes through. I was among thousands of those students who pursued engineering after school life as it seemed as the best available option to my parents. Thereafter, NIT happened in the flow of events and I was somehow able to secure a super secure job in BPCL post my graduation. My parents were delighted that I got a public sector job and I cruised on in my life.
This is a question which plagues hundreds of aspirants each year and was very dear to me 2 years back. Here is my perspective on the same. Having been in the situation earlier, I think I am the right person to answer this.
“It was good knowing you. All the best for your future!” the manager exclaimed as I handed over the headphones and the drawer keys. The day has come when I leave behind the organization where I made so many beautiful memories in the past two years. I had always dreamt of this day and had prepared my farewell speech a zillionth time. But today, when everyone had gathered to wish me luck, I was speechless. I had this strange feeling of a dream coming true. It is expected that you feel happy when your dreams come true, but I felt numb. I wanted neither to leave nor stay.
