As class dispersed for a 15 minutes break, Rahul grabbed the coffee from the kiosk and stood beside the railing to witness the scenic beauty of God's own Campus. He was wondering why he was here - everything happening around was so random, and nobody had any idea of what was going around them.
It's three in the night when I’m writing this down - the 33rd convocation day of IIM Lucknow just got over three hours back.
Another year, another round of interviews. Aspirants queue up outside the gates of B-schools, hoping to make it in. Dozens of variables come into play in deciding the fate of the quintessential aspirant. The aspirant’s brain is a swirling mass of information about the top B-schools – the culture, opportunities, clubs, brand, academic rigour to name a few. As our tense aspirant awaits his/her results, the friendly neighbourhood aunt raises the stakes. She waltzes in your home boasting of the son of her second removed cousin who made it into the best B-school in the country. You think to yourself, ‘I had 99 problems, now I got 100’.
She was sitting on the last bench on the first day when our classes officially began. While the professor was teaching, she gently raised her hand long up in the air.
Remember, CAT is a rejection process while the IIM WAT-GD-PI is a selection process.
The journey from Microsoft Office usage in work experience to Microsoft Office usage in MBA has been phenomenal. On the one side, case-mats look bland but prove to be potential nightmares with long cases. On the other, nightlife in MBA seems exciting, but staying up late makes keeping the eyes open in the next-day sessions difficult.
