We rushed to the 8.45 am lecture like any other day, with breakfast in one hand and books in the other. Something felt different about that day – 5 back-to-back lectures of the same subject in a day – no one had a clue what was happening. We entered our classroom and took our seats. That morning, even our usual classroom had a different aura, as if it was preparing us for the fun-filled day that lay ahead.

Banking 2.0 - Internship At Royal Bank Of Scotland - Tharun Jacob, IIM Trichy

I have had a three-year stint in retail banking in a scheduled commercial bank but corporate banking and operations were all new to me and it is with slight trepidation that I entered the towering awe-inducing twelve storeyed building of Royal Bank of Scotland in Chennai. It was a mixed bag of excitement and nervousness on the first day but it helped to have a classmate joining the internship along with me who incidentally happens to be an ex-RBS employee and had great things to say about the organization. The proceedings began with a formal on boarding session through a video conference with all the interns across the offices in India and senior leader’s brief about the RBS way of internship, the work culture etc.

Dream Companies + MBA Students = Pre-MBA Social - Bangalore Edition

We were in IT hub of India to meet the class of 2020 for a Pre-MBA Social. They had a chat with top leaders in the field and their future recruiters from dream companies like Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Unilever and Shell. The room was buzzing with nostalgic campus stories, stint and summer internship experiences and an informative Q&A session. The Konversations team brought in more fun with the 'Fachcha' quiz and an interactive guesstimate session. On Campus Stories, Dream Careers, And More - Pre-MBA Social 2018 - Mumbai

On a fairly clouded day in Mumbai, we hosted an enthusiastic bunch of MBA students for what we call the Pre-MBA Social. They got to meet their future recruiters and leaders in the field from companies like Hindustan Unilever and Aditya Birla Group, and there was also a heart-to-heart session with Faiz Rehman and Prashant Mohanraj. The day was spent sharing summer internship experiences, campus stories, Q&A sessions and a lot of laughter. The Konversations team took the stage as well, for a fun-filled quiz session and a stand-up comedy performance. Even since we joined XIMB, we were told by seniors to start preparing for Summer Internship Programme (SIP). Having had an accounting & finance background, I always wanted to work in finance realm and HSBC was one of the top recruiters we had. I had heard about its tough selection process. “If you want to crack HSBC’s interview you need to start preparing seriously for it”, advised a senior months before HSBC IB came on campus. From that day onwards my primary target for SIP was HSBC IB. Being determined to crack the tough interviews, I started preparing seriously for it. Because what better could I get than working in HSBC Investment banking division itself. Needless to say that it is one of the best profiles in finance.
