During my first year at IIM Rohtak, I found a way to materialise the same in the form of some online entries regarding situations during the mid-terms for the class of 2018. The following parts begin with the kind of music that played in Hostel corridors between exams. The paragraphs below depict the grave frustrations the batch during the first ever mid-term they faced.
Sitting at the airport, as I wait for my flight, I can’t help but remember the amazing onboarding journey the E.L.I.T.E. trainees went through over the last couple of months. And suddenly I’m transported to the difficult task at hand – Writing about that one thing, across the five weeks that has left a deep impact on me, as a person and as a professional. It is extremely difficult to pinpoint at one particular thing, simply because the entire experience was beyond amazing – be it the chance to interact with senior leaders, the Pinnacle workshop to improve our communication & presentation skills or the week that we spent in France! But a decision has to be made – and I think I have made mine.
There’s a particular course that I’ve taken up this term which sits with me for various reasons. The course is unique in its own sense and very different from standard b-school courses. It’s called Leadership Through Literature. For starters, 2 professors take the course simultaneously and have not split it up into half by pre and post mid. Professor Neerja Pande and Professor Himanshu Rai take this course at IIM Lucknow.
To all of you applicants, who believe that lives at b-schools is really that hunkey-dorey, here’s a peek into what really constitutes the 2 years after you first get into a b-school.
The summer internship process makes each of us believe in ourselves a little more or lesser depending on the outcome of it. The process is after all extremely grueling and much more than a test of mere wit. According to me, it involves luck, confidence, networking, communication skills, and various other factors. The final outcome is still sometimes beyond reason and understanding.
