Summer Internship for an MBA student is the best opportunity to get acclimatized to the working culture that they are going to be a part of one year down the line. For a fresher, the importance of this experience multiplies manifolds as it is their only such experience before heading into the challenging corporate world after completing education.
One of the most exciting parts of B-school life is the Summer Internship. It gives us a glimpse of what we joined the B-school for - the Post-MBA work-life and provides an understanding regarding what we want to do in the future. Here, is my experience with the world's largest cosmetics company, L'Oréal.
My teammates and I were the national finalists of the competition UltraTech India Next Campus Edition which helped us in bagging the PPO for their summer internship programme, “Ulchemies”. The competition was one of a kind, where we had to identify an infrastructure-related problem in any city and provide solutions and we chose to address the problem of Asia’s largest slum-Dharavi. I remember putting our heart and soul into the competition, pulling all-nighters, researching over every small detail and in the end, we were rewarded for it and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support and help of our friends, professors and seniors.
Case interviews are a crucial part of the interview process for hiring management consultants. These interviews comprise challenging problem statements with the backdrop of a perplexing situation. With classes, summer placement prep, resume verification, pre placement talks, projects, etc., Akriti and her team decided to participate in the TBLA case competition. One of the only 2 teams participating from 1st year, they ended up becoming national winners of TBLA 2018. Placecom. Every b-school student wants to get into the placement committee at some point. But what does one actually do as a placecommer? Pratik Sharda was curious too, and having worked in different types of clubs during his engineering days, decided to attempt getting into placecom. When his scores started suffering, Pratik decided to buck up and get his act together. From 8.50 GPA, Pratik managed to score 9.20 GPA in Term 6.
