Happenings Around The World – November 22 - November 28

And the one exam which had kept hundreds of thousands of aspirants on their toes for the past one year or so came, shook the world for 3 hours and went away in a jiffy akin to a puff of smoke. Some of the test takers are experiencing a delirious euphoria post the exam with the confidence of getting a score equal to or higher than what they had expected. Kudos for that but one should not forget that one more storm comes close on the heels of CAT every year – the Group Discussions and Personal Interviews rounds.

A Day In The Life Of An SPJIMR Student

“The z-value is hence derived from NORMSINV and the result is used in determining whether to accept the null hypothesis or not accept it” – 17th June 2017, sitting in a class of 81 students and for the first time in my life, I asked myself if I really was as smart as the others in this class who are nodding to what is actually Greek to me. After 14 years of schooling and 3 years of undergrad, I had sufficient belief in my capabilities to sit in a class and understand what the teacher says (probably, understand in a better manner than many other students); but well, MBA at SPJIMR was now welcoming me warmly. A batch of 240 students who have always been amongst the top percentile in their classes, who are known to be the all-rounders are now my batchmates. Ironically enough, I found out later that everyone was thinking the same thing in that class – Am I good enough? And indeed, they are!

We can defend the right to freedom of speech of film-makers and artists to death. But the moment we are confronted with the same question on our own choices, we lose all objectivity.

6 Harsh Truths About Placements At B-Schools In India

Hush! Finally, it's over! I wouldn't want to be in that phase of my life again (though, I might need to go face it once more). I am not talking about exams or even a break-up. I am talking about the main reason for which a person joins a good b-school: Placements (In my case, Summers!)

The Ugly Side Of B-School Sports Tournaments

Sangram 2017; the annual sports meet between the south IIMs (IIM Bangalore, Kozhikode, Trichy and Vizag) ended on Sunday. It was hosted by IIM Kozhikode who were eventually crowned the champions. This seems like an arbitrary article up until here. But there is more to it than what meets the eye. Although the trophy was presented to IIM K at the end of the tournament, it would have been in everybody’s interest to award them the trophy at the start and then play the tournament! Read on to find out why…
