4 Management Lessons To Learn From The Student Exchange Program

“A ship is always safe on the shore but is not built for it.”, quoted by I don’t know whom but makes lots and lots of sense to me and even more so in the context of the student exchange program of the top b-schools of India. The student exchange program stays cent percent true to the essence and the core character of the IIMs where the participants are trained to take a leap of faith and valiantly move out of their comfort zones while maintaining the same level of composure and decision-making abilities.

The E.L.I.T.E. Welcome: A 5-Week Journey Of Onboarding And Learning At Capgemini

On 12th June 2017 at 9.00 AM IST, 19 freshly out MBA graduates were standing shocked inside the security office at the main entrance of Capgemini financial district campus in Hyderabad. A group of 10-15 people including the E.L.I.T.E. core team was there to welcome them. The ID cards were ready. The training room was open with the E.L.I.T.E. welcome kit on the assigned desks. It also included our business cards-the highlight of the day for me. The joining paperwork was quickly done. By afternoon we had our laptops with us. The day ended with welcome dinner at The Hyatt where we got an opportunity to interact with seniors and leaders. What a welcome! What followed was a 5-week onboarding process which was enriching, exciting, overwhelming and fun.

How To Put Yourself Out There? - Lessons From A Networking Newbie

I have been reading a lot lately about how to network effectively in the job search process. The art of networking has assumed a growing importance in the world which is rapidly changing. Although today's millennials are tech-savvy and most of their lives are ruled by technology, networking is one aspect which shall never lose the human touch! The interaction may be aided by technology but at the end, you interact with a human! So the most important lesson that I learnt about networking is not to forget to build relations with your contacts because they are humans too! Networking can get as mechanical as it sounds. But if you want to leave a lasting memory, lend a human touch to your interactions. Listen earnestly to what the other person has to say. Engage with them in the true sense of the word. Don't sound pushy. Instead be interested in the free-flowing conversations. Anecdotes shared during conversations make them lively and memorable.
