ManjunathShanmugam, an IIML alumnus and an IOCL Sales Manager, was murdered on 19th November 2005 at Lakhimpur Khiri, UP as he refused to take bribes and ignored threats to fight adulteration. In his memory the ManjunathShanmugam Trust (MST), an international corporate community, was created to improve governance in Indian public life.
The faculty and the students of IIM Shillong paid homage to Mr. Manjunath Shanmugam on his tenth death anniversary by conducting a candlelight march. Like every year, IIM Shillong joined hands with the Manjunath Shanmugam Trust to undertake the pledge of integrity to fight corruption. Over 100 students gathered at around 6:30 pm to participate in the march and offer their heartfelt condolences and respect to this great personality.
Kolosseum, the annual fest organized by KSOM, is one of the marquee events in the calendar year for students from all over the country. It draws thousands of students who come here to have a good time and, of course, win bragging rights for their institutes. Right from cultural events, competitions to business events, there are several popular activities that have become the hallmark of the festival. The Star Night takes the extravaganza to its pinnacle every year.
“JKBS is a huge brand, so when I go out into the corporate world and introduce myself I simply need to mention where I got my PGDM from. The brand speaks for itself,” says a prideful Ms. Priyanka, alum from Batch 2014. Of course, she has another reason to be proud: since she bagged the Gold Medal for her batch, she was able to return to her institute for the ceremony. Here, she looks back at her journey from a new management student to a confident professional.
“This is the best time to join JKBS because it is going through an important phase of restructuring. There is a lot of scope for students to learn and grow in a very positive learning environment. Of course, as a student of Batch 2014 I experienced it too; but I believe the institute has stepped up its game and taken things a notch higher,” says Ms. Neha Deora, who remains grateful to the institute for helping her embark upon her professional career.
