Chennai, 15th September 2017: Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), one of India’s prominent management institutes, organised an International Conference on Finance and Economics with the theme ‘Conference to discuss the “Current Trends in Finance and Economics’. Attended by industry veterans, academicians and students, the conference was inaugurated by Padma Vibhushan Dr. C. Rangarajan, Former Governor – Reserve Bank of India, Former Chairman – The Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and Former Chairman – Twelfth Finance Commission of India. Fr. Christie, Director – LIBA, Mr. Somi Hazari, Managing Director – Shosova Group of Companies along with the distinguished management of LIBA were also present during the inauguration.
CK Prahalad Centre for Emerging India, LIBA in association with Loyola Relief & Rescue Services (LRRS) organised “Venture/Entrepreneur Initiation program” Phase-1 for the tribes, dalits and migrants of Tiruvallur district. The beneficiaries of this program underwent technical training in various trades like Pre-press, Vector Graphics, Web Technology & Tailoring. To enhance the self-employability options of these trainees the CK Prahalad Centre of LIBA in association with various stakeholders like District Industries Centre, lead banks, Self-employment facilitating centers and District Collectorate organised “Entrepreneur Initiation program” Phase-1 to appraise them about the entrepreneurial climate of the district, experience the positive eco-system, build confidence and re-instate their determination towards positive outcomes.
Moving away from the standard approach of landfills, Loyola campus has created a sustainable waste management program that will address various forms of waste through an integrated transformation cycle, resulting in usable energy – Cooking gas and chemical free food.
The author had earlier published a titled “Incredible Champions” in the year 2014 wherein he had covered about twenty-five professionals and champions who have done extraordinary work in the social sector. It was quite revealing about the humility and firmness with which the champions have approached their chosen area of work. They have insulated themselves from adverse comments and criticisms for fulfilling their inner need to serve people in the target segment.

Xavier School of Management, set a new record this year after it completed its Summer Internship Placement Process (SIP) of 2017 in just two days. The batch of 2017-19 consisting of 364 students has achieved 100% placement with the median and average stipend increasing by over 20%, with a highest stipend of 5 lakhs for two months.
