Dark Side Award By Academy Of Management Is Awarded To ICFAI Business School CASE Development Center

Dr Debapratim Purkhayastha another accolade in ICFAI CASE center as the CASE - Sexual Harassment Complaint and Fallout, won the Dark Side CASE Award.  The CASE was written by Ms. Syeeda Maseeha Qumer, Prof. Debapratim Purkayastha of ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad and Dr. Vijaya Narapareddy, University of Denver. In the last three years, ICFAI Business School CASE center has won Dark Side Award twice.  The other two who made into the final round of Dark Side award were from Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada.

i5 Summit, Central India’s largest entrepreneurship summit organised by IIM Indore and IIT Indore was held on 19th and 20th August, 2017. The summit began with a keynote address by Mr. Venktesh Shukla. Mr. Shukla, ex-chairman of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), and currently General Partner at Monta Vista Capital and President of Foundation for Excellence talked about entrepreneurship as the way forward in India. He spoke about the opportunities available to entrepreneurs in India, such as government support and availability of capital, and stressed on finding the one thing that the company is best at, which people will pay for. He cautioned against losing sight of the big picture while focusing on granular b-plans and spreadsheets. Lastly, his piece of advice to entrepreneurs was  to ‘know your customer’ by interacting with them, understanding their problems, finding out their willingness to pay for its solution and then solving their problems through the products or services on offer.

Tips From The Top – “Projection Modeling And Sensitivity Analysis” - Mr. Anoop Bhatia, V.P., I.C.R.A.

The seminar began on a light note, with Mr. Anoop offering Lao Tzu’s take on forecasting and quoting Laurence Peter’s witty remarks on economists. He explained how an economist actually is involved in presenting a result oriented outlook along with the forecast of industry demand, involved in financial planning, establishes goals and analyses the market to provide well-informed guidance on the possibilities. The projections are normally done with 5-7 years of data, which helps create a holistic outlook including up-cycle and down-cycle data, including those of the competitors in the industry. For vitality of project specific projections, the data utilised can even stretch up to 20 years. However, he professed from experience that the maintenance of a certain degree of accuracy of projections is difficult beyond 2-3 years.
