The Director, members of faculty & administration along with the students of IIM Shillong honoured the legacy of late. Mr. Manjunath Shanmugam by holding a candlelight vigil and a march to mark his 11th death anniversary. About a hundred participants gathered to show their solidarity towards the cause and pay their respects to the venerable brave heart.
The two-year PGP (post graduate program in management), the flagship program at all IIMs, is the dream for a number of MBA aspirants in India. Now, the completion of this or a similar two-year course from another institute does not technically lead to the award of an MBA degree. International accreditation organisation such as the Association of MBAs (AMBA) require students of MBA to have relevant average work experience of five years (a minimum of three). In contrast, work experience is not a pre-requisite when one applies for PGP courses, hence technically it cannot be labelled as an MBA course. In fact, accreditation organisations consider PGP as an equivalent of MBM – Masters in Business and Management. This notwithstanding, when it comes to higher education in management, the PGP program provides an excellent platform to fresh undergrads from various disciplines and has churned out some great business minds over the years.
As part of the ADMAP (Assessment and Development of Managerial & Administrative potential) course’s mandate, the Technology Committee recently invited an industry leader on campus to deliver the first lecture as part of its “TechTalks” initiative.
Homecoming 2016 just concluded on a great note with over 75 alumni of the batches of 1996 and 2006 turning up with great enthusiasm and participation with their families. It was heartening to see them relive their memories and share with us their past experiences as students in SCMHRD. The two-day event was scheduled on the 12th and 13th of November, 2016 with the Director, Dr. Pratima Sheorey, faculty-in-charge Dr. Manish Sinha and our esteemed ex- faculties Mr. Kalidas, Ms. Priya Kher and Mr. Shivram Apte.
Understanding India’s importance as a global player in the shifting international power dynamics, by juxtaposing the speed of changes and the changes in expectations from a democratic state, IIM Rohtak celebrated its eighth Foundation Day. The theme of the event was “India and the shift in Global Power Dynamics”. The discussions were kicked off by Prof. Mahua Guha, a faculty of Strategic Management, who highlighted the importance that India holds in the overall development of the world.
Apprehension and uncertainty are enfeebling for an Aptitude exam and future managers. The stronghold to make decisions is something that distinguishes the future managers from the facade of board room drollery. Hence, we the admissions team of SCMHRD every year take it upon us to conduct an interactive session “SNAPIT” in all the major cities for the MBA aspirants to address all the issues an aspirant reels through during the business end of their preparation eon.
As organizations strive to keep pace with the ever-evolving business environment and challenges, the role of Human Resource Management is becoming more and more momentous. ILLUME’16 - the Industry Institute Interaction Meet, which is being organized by Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur on 19-20th November 2016, aims to create a collaborative forum where corporate leaders will share their views on these important issues. For the students, it will be a great opportunity to interact with the distinguished panelists and understand the recent trends across sectors.
