I had my interview on 27th February in Mumbai in the post-lunch session. Firstly, we had written ability test, and the topic was “Is it the moral responsibility of doctors and hospitals to save the life of the patient as long as possible irrespective of the quality of life?”
A rat race is an endless, self-defeating, or pointless pursuit. It conjures up the image of lab rats racing through a maze to get the "cheese" much like society racing to get ahead financially. The term is commonly associated with an exhausting, repetitive lifestyle that leaves no time for relaxation or enjoyment. – Wikipedia
Stress, nervousness, impatience, anxiety, and uneasiness are conventional emotions that you experience with every timid step you take towards your interview room. Questions pop up in your head – Will I be able to impress the interviewers? Will I have all the answers? Will my answer of ‘Why MBA’ be liked by them? Will I convert this call? Things seem very individualistic and selfish, dominated by “me” and “I”. Well, that’s pretty natural!
A couple of days back, I got a call from a classmate from my undergrad college. He had an exciting news - he had a shortlist from IIM Calcutta! Having gone throughthe same process exactly a year ago, I was more than happy to help. Discussing my experience with him got me reminiscing. And then, thinking. Like most of my batchmates, I am an engineer. Unlike most of my batch-mates however, I am not from an IIT or an NIT, and so, I do not have seniors and peers who could help me when I was preparing. At IIM Calcutta, we live by the motto, “We Leave No One Behind”. I hope, this article helps everyone who decides to go down the CAT route.
The CAT is finally out of the bag. Some of you might be jumping with joy while some of you will be cursing all those online score predictors. To the latter bunch, this is for you guys.
CAT, the mother of all exams is a stupendous exam, with almost 2,00,000 test takers appearing for it every freaking year. The exam gives you a boarding pass to flight IIM. It is designed to check your concepts of mathematics, your reading skills, you data comprehending abilities. More than the knowledge of concepts, I believe it is a calm and composed frame of mind that helps your boat sail through easily.
With CAT ’17 done and dusted, it’s time to move on. As an aspirant, you would have been closely following all the development irrespective of whether or not you appeared for the exam. A few marks here and there can create a world of difference. To give your best shot, it is imperative that you plan your preparation in a good way.
