One topic that comes up very frequently in business schools these days is that of entrepreneurship. And today “Social Entrepreneurship” has become quite the buzzword with many seminars and competitions promoting it. But what kind of sorcery is it exactly and from whence did it suddenly spring?
Prayatna – The Social Responsibility Club of IIM Udaipur organized a Stem Cell Donation Registry Camp in collaboration with Datri Foundation. Datri is a non-for profit organization working for patients suffering from various blood disorders including blood cancer. The event started with an awareness session in which the students were briefed about the need and process of Stem Cell donation. The session was taken by Mr. Rajat, a BITS Pilani Alumnus working full time with Datri Foundation. Around 60 donors registered in the application process of Stem Cell donation. Apart from the students and faculty of IIMU, the event also had around 10 donors from the local Udaipur community.
CII Yi XLRI participated in the celebration of the annual Women’s Day on 8th March 2014 by organizing a fundraiser and an event for the women workers of XLRI. The Yi members collected contributions from students to involve them in giving back to the women who take care of the campus and their stay here. XLRI students yet again demonstrated their generosity like never before contributing Rs 12,000 for the event which helped in conducting a full-fledged event for the workers with numerous fun activities to appreciate them for their constant efforts and hard work towards making XLRI a beautiful and comfortable place.
Amidst the ever changing business landscape what would differentiate managers would not be the skills that they develop during the course of their academic and work life, but the combination of resilience and character. With its aim of building character and promoting value based learning, S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research offers a unique course on the Science of Spirituality.
It is true that someone who goes through discrimination is better placed to be sensitive to the problems of the discriminated. Rev. Jesse Louis Jackson, a prominent American civil rights activist and Baptist minister fought several struggles against discrimination throughout his childhood and youth to champion the cause of the African-Americans and actively contribute to the civil-rights movement. With stellar experiences and achievements to his credit, he delivered an inspiring lecture at IIM Calcutta on 26th February, 2014. By following the most effective teaching methodology viz. making the audience to repeat after oneself, Rev. Jackson engaged the audience throughout his speech and made sure we would retain the essence.
School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL) launched a special scholarship scheme to salute the spirit of the sacrifice of late Capt. Vikram Batra, Param Vir Chakra, for his actions during the 1999 Kargil War. ‘Captain Vikram Batra Scholarship Scheme’ will enable defence personnel who had to take premature release on medical grounds, to avail upto 100% scholarship on the program fee. Meritorious children or spouses who are graduates with some relevant experience, irrespective of family income could get upto 25% scholarship on the program fee.
In line of its continuing efforts to serve the society around it the ECoBiZ Club of IIM Shillong organised the 3rd blood donation camp on 22nd February, 2014.

The camp was organized in collaboration with Shree Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayta Samiti (BMVSS) Udaipur, City Administration and Mahavir International Organization, Udaipur.
