Entering A World Of Opportunities At ABG || Summer Saga 2020

Around 2 months ago, I concluded my internship with Aditya Birla Group as a part of its coveted leadership program, where every year plethora of future leaders are shaped SEAMLESS-ly, in the mould of COMMITMENT, keeping INTEGRITY at its core, enriched with SPEED and PASSION! Being able to explore a world of opportunities in long-term association with this mammoth multinational conglomerate is like a dream come true for any B-school rookie like me. The idea of exploring the diversities of corporate world fascinated me a lot, and ABG, being globally active in 14 diverse industry sectors, is the best platform I could get to do so.

During the months that preceded my internship experience, there was a lot of uncertainty in the air and at the same time, everyone was trying to gain as much knowledge as they could from their seniors. But looking back I felt that I took the right decision of only talking to a few numbers of people that had done internships in the same industry. My internship project could have been in any domain of HR and especially since I was going to work in the consulting domain, cluttering myself with too much information would have taken away the clarity I had in my mind. But on the other hand, I was constantly reading a lot to keep myself updated about what was happening in the HR world. This, in fact, helped me in my internship in connecting the dots a few times.

Elements Transformed: My Virtual Voyage To Vedanta

I was honestly excited when I came to know that I will be going through my summer internship at Vedanta. Being a Mechanical engineer, it was not too much of an unknown territory for me. But being an HR, I was anxious instead, much contrary to the first sentence. “What kind of project I will be getting there?” or “What will be my role?” were some of the questions that were running through the mind. However, after I was done with it, I was surprised how much it changed me, for the better, as a professional and a human being. The tagline was reeling through my mind – “transforming elements”. Never knew it was meant for the personnel as well. Let me now take YOU, the readers on this transformation journey.

Summer Internship Experience At Van Heusen - ABFRL | Utkarsh Gupta

Are women better CEOs or Men? You must be overflowing with thoughts to answer this question, isn’t it? This was the topic of my GD, the first round of the selection process for ABFRL and this is where I believe my learning around the corporate world had taken the next step as I was about to be selected to intern with India's first billion-dollar pure-play fashion powerhouse with an elegant bouquet of leading fashion brands and retail formats. A month later, my best friend and I were exploring the classiest innerwear and athleisure at Van Heusen Innerwear’s first exclusive brand outlet (EBO) in Baner, Pune as this was the brand I was to be associated with, as told to me during the interview. Yes, this was my brand calling as I really got hooked onto their product line and that was also the reason for my friends’ banter who could see the brand name popping out at times, from the top of my jeans.
