My internship at PwC Gurgaon is undisputedly one of the most exciting experiences I have had lately. I was allocated to the Gurgaon office, just 18kms away from Manesar, where I interned with Simplex Infrastructures Ltd. three years back. It brought back varied memories and made me feel at home.
‘A Soonicarn’, ‘A leader in online deliveries of fruits & vegetables’, ‘One of the best Supply Chain Network company’ – these were some of the fluttering thoughts in my head as I sat inside a big warehouse of 2,00,000 sq. Ft., waiting for my internship journey to commence. It’s been a week now that the internship is over and not a day goes by when I don’t want to rewind time and relive those 8 weeks.
Among my batch mates who applied for the internship, HSBC was everybody’s first choice and I was no exception. The process started with an online test prior to GD and PI round. I was preparing myself for the day and was pretty confident about the interview as I had prior experience working with leading banks of US during my tenure with Infosys.
As FIFA is streamed and telecasted across multiple platforms, there is one aspect that always continues to capture my thoughts. It isn’t the hoards of supporters, the players, or even the goals scored for that matter. It’s the logo of Sony Ten, which brings back the cherished memories from my internship at the media haven, Sony Pictures Networks.
I could feel a drop of sweat rolling down the brow of my forehead as I sat in the lecture room along with 25 odd people, waiting to meet Mr. Rajeev Mishra, CEO, UM Motorcycles. He had come for a guest lecture at the Institute. Ours was not the section that was attending the guest lecture that day. However, midway through the lecture, we were alerted to the possibility of meeting Rajeev regarding the opportunity of a summer internship placement. I jumped at the chance. Summer internship at a motorcycle company. A company in its initial stages, growing rapidly, and selling motorcycles in the higher power category. It was like the role was designed with me in mind. Ran I did, getting dressed into formals, hopping onto my motorcycle and getting to the room in a hurry. Arriving late was not going to be a reason for me not getting the part. Hence, the drop of sweat.

Being offered an internship in Training Institute of a $40 billion Construction giant was weird. The conglomerate known by the name of two Danish Engineers “Larsen & Toubro” in an Engineer’s paradise but was it for MBA? Somehow, I managed to console myself that this will really be a cool and an awesome opportunity to learn and showcase my talent. After the honeymoon period of 3 days at LDA Lonavala where we were inducted, I was mentally prepared for the grilling at a hot and humid temperature of the South Indian beauty of Chennai.
For someone with a graduate engineering degree from a not so acclaimed Institution, Making it into the relims of a coveted business school like XLRI as a fresher wasn't less than reaching the summit of an uncharted peak in the very first attempt.
