I started my summer internship in the sunny month of April. Through the scorching heat, storms, thunders and potholes of Bangalore, I managed to finish it recently. The journey was filled with ups and downs, and I am penning down the lessons in black and white.

‘Sports stays. Sports always stays.’ It was history in the making and we were all part of the heritage which we were about to create. These words echoed in the auditorium and we (the interns) were inspired by the brilliance of the man addressing us. Make no mistake – it was not easy for us to have reached that point. It all started with one word, ‘PUMA’.
IIM Udaipur witnessed one of the most rigorous summer placement seasons, wherein a plethora of roles was being offered to the students by several reputed companies. However, the story that I am about to share deviates from this placement season’s course right here! In fact, a series of events were set into motion the moment I had decided to sacrifice my term break and take up something called a Live Project.
This would be the most appropriate one-liner for my internship. For a fresher and a finance aficionado that I was, SREI Equipment Finance Limited was the enabler to an experience that I would definitely want to harbour in the future. From all that I could have known, a treasury department was to do with allocation & mobilization of resources.
Preparation Strategy: For the group discussion stage I attended many mock group discussions conducted by my seniors. For the interviews, I studied about what all business CK Birla is into and among them where would I like to work. I shortlisted Avtec as my targeted company within the group.
16 June 2017 – The excitement, as well as the anxiety, was sky high when I first stepped into the Xavier University Bhubaneswar Campus, the curiosity of knowing the MBA life, the fear of matching the expectations all these played their part and made the initial days a bit tougher. With butterflies in my stomach, I slowly started my MBA journey, the start was slow but eventually, I could match the pace, which reminds me of Usain Bolt,“No matter how far you get ahead of me, I’m gonna catch you. That’s my mentality that I go there with.” Good things started happening & the best thing that happened in the first year was the summer internship where I got an opportunity to work as an intern with Ernst & Young.
