A Fresher's Journey To HSBC - Summer Internship Experience - XIMB

A Fresher's Journey To HSBC - Summer Internship Experience - XIMB

Even since we joined XIMB, we were told by seniors to start preparing for Summer Internship Programme (SIP). Having had an accounting & finance background, I always wanted to work in finance realm and HSBC was one of the top recruiters we had. I had heard about its tough selection process. “If you want to crack HSBC’s interview you need to start preparing seriously for it”, advised a senior months before HSBC IB came on campus. From that day onwards my primary target for SIP was HSBC IB. Being determined to crack the tough interviews, I started preparing seriously for it. Because what better could I get than working in HSBC Investment banking division itself. Needless to say that it is one of the best profiles in finance.

An Ode To My Summer Internship At TATA Steel

An Ode To My Summer Internship At TATA Steel

In the roller-coaster ride of a time-crunched course called MBA, a summer internship is a perfect mix of responsibility, exposure, and pressure. I was lucky enough to intern with the marketing and sales division the great old company - Tata Steel Limited. It all started with a GD, with some of the best peers and speakers one can discover in the campus. I evaluated myself to have spoken the least and not expecting much I went to attend a class. I was called for the interview, and somehow, I managed to be one among the 4 selected to intern in the Marketing and Sales profile of Tata Steel Limited.

Sankalp’s Internship Experience At Ernst & Young - XIMB

Dejected from previous night’s rejection in the Group Discussion round I woke up just to realise I had only 15 minutes to make it to the pre-placement talk of Ernst & Young. Somehow hurriedly I made it just in time only to doze off through the talk. I was woken up by someone calling out my name and asking me to check the mail. To my great joy as well as horror I had made it through the first round (held earlier) to the interview round of EY. I was happy for being amongst the selected few who had made it to the second round. t the same time, I was fearful of losing out on EY. After two exhaustive rounds of interviews, I finally made it to EY for the 8 weeks internship program.

Embarking on a two year long but seemingly short journey at a b-school was perhaps one of the best decisions I have taken so far. Three terms; filled with exams, quizzes, assignments, and not to forget hanging out with peers finally came to a halt. Having imbibed the management ‘gyan’ for a year now, it was time to leave the campus with our superhero corporate attire, business formals, for next two months.

The decision of moving from a cultural hotspot, Delhi to a different cultural hotpot, Bhubaneswar, in order to pursue MBA in Human Resources has been invigorating. Just like any other aspiring MBA student, I had a certain mindset before moving to a new place, which was in contrast to what the place had in store for me.
