An MBA internship is one of the highlights of any MBA program, in India or globally. It is a critical tool for the students to have a dipstick of what corporate has to offer, and for employers to gauge candidates as potential employees.

25th May 2018 it was. I and some of my crazier friends were waiting for our turns to hand over our business assets (A laptop with charger, headphone, one bulky yet my favourite laptop bag and a cable lock) at the IT office, Deloitte E-block, Hyderabad. For the first time all of us had similar expressions on our faces, this was the last day of an eight week long summer internship which I assumed to go long on the first day but seemed too short when it was going to be over. We bid good bye to each other over a Punjabi lunch in the city of chutneys. When I look back in the memory mirror, the ambitious b-school summer internship seems no less than a sweet, entertaining and inspiring movie where you still want to hold your seat even if the movie is over.
“So you are from Uttarakhand? I’ve heard people have leopards and elephants as pets there.”
Post my graduation, I was a bit confused in regard of what to pursue and which sector to prefer as a career choice. I decided to take my time and figure out what I really wanted to do. So, after exploring for a few months, I came across the Rural Management program of Xavier School of Rural Management, XUB (previously XIMB-RM). I found the course curriculum and the student activities quite fascinating and thus, I decided to take up the course.

Om. Patanjali Ayurved Limited (PAL). This name needs no introduction. There is no denying the fact that The stalwarts of the FMCG industry are perplexed and thrilled by the stupendous rate at which the company is growing. In terms of revenue, PAL has already surpassed Dabur, a century old FMCG company and is all set to bring down Hindustan Unilever (HUL), to become the leading FMCG company of the country within the next two years.
Nervous jitters every now and then, excitement at its peak, calling up numerous friends and juniors and taking a look at the checklist of onboarding documents a hundred times. This more or less says it all about the morning of my first day of internship. Of the numerous times that I wore business formals during MBA, never before had I thought of actually flaunting it. I was taken aback by looking at people all around me so normal and casual? Am I the only one who is over-excited? Probably yes, and I had all the reason for the same. It was my first corporate stint as a fresher. The first ever of my life. A lot was at stake. I had heard so much about it – both good and not so good. Looking at my excitement, my fellow interns would say “You’re new to the corporate setup, we’ve been there; we’ll take a look at your excitement a week later.”
