My father is in a transferable job and we had to frequently shift residence from one part of the country to another. This presented a huge challenge and I have had to change several schools. By the time you settle down and have a group of friends, it’s time to move on again. Different schools had varying curriculum and different ways of teaching a subject. Even the third language offered in schools was different when we were transferred rom Mumbai to Delhi.

My journey from being an introvert to an ambivert of sorts has been a roller coaster ride. Always considered to be an average student, I always aspired to do something big and achieve something that you won’t normally expect an introverted average student to achieve. It was during my 10th standard that I decided to change that image of mine and achieve the unexpected. I always had the dream of getting my photo published in the newspaper by way of being at the top of my class. I participated aggressively in class discussions, worked comprehensively in group projects, practiced my weakest subjects all day long and focused so much that no external force could bother me. I always knew from the bottom of my heart that my hard work would give me the desired results and I would fulfill my dream of rising above others and I eventually did. 30th May is the date that I would never forget because it is the day that actually gave a new meaning to my life. This is the day when I, no longer was considered to be an average student rather everybody started looking at me with a certain respect. But, this just changed one aspect of my image. I was still the introverted person. This was something that became a very big hurdle in my life. I was there at the top of my class but still I wanted to come out of my comfort zone and actually wanted to talk to people. Three years passed by and I knew what I wanted next, an admission to one of the premier B-schools. But, this required clearing of rounds like group discussions. Now came the real test in my life where I had to no matter what come out of my comfort zone and actually talk to random people. All I had to do was to focus on my goal and the job was done. During the group discussions, I started to speak so much that now I stand at a completely different road, a road I thought I would never see but here I am, in my dream college. When now I look back to that phase in my life I realize that my fears were just learning lessons and now I stand strong enough to face come what may.

When someone says, ‘big in your life’, I perceive it as the most impactful thing in my life. I then turn back and see the significant moments that made an impact and are still there with me. So, it’s the first house that we built 20 years ago, I grew up there, started my school and college, completed my education, my brother got married. This house has seen most of my life and is still standing strong with all of us. This has made an impact and for the same reason is ‘big for me’. Now I could understand, how a building made of concrete cement can be big for you. But then I trace back, when you say cement, I understand just one brand Aditya Birla Group’s ‘Ultratech Cement-India’s No 1 Cement’. I then realize this group has been there with me throughout my life and is still there, with an amazing collection of Brands and Products. Starting with my mobile network, Vodafone-Idea, world’s second largest mobile network Provider company, with wide range of Network and services. I have my bed sheets made from Linen, so Brand Linen Club again an Aditya Birla Group Brand. Fashion for me has always been Pantaloons which offers brands like ‘Peter England’,’ Van Heusen’, ’Allen Solly’ and several others. About 7.5 Million people from the weaker section of the society has seen their life change through the CSR initiative. It has made a huge impact in the lives of school going children. Through the Self-Help groups, they have setup Solar Urja lamp assembly units which are distributed to school going children. Thus, helping the children as well as the Women. All these things are integral part of my life and Aditya Birla group has nurtured them for me and made them big.

Being one of the biggest cement producer the Aditya Birla Group has its contribution in the most amazing of infrastructures. It starts with the concrete foundation of our homes, from where we step out on the cement roads, carrying the latest fashion trends with a smartphone in one hand and the keys of a bike in another, Aditya Birla Group has its share in each one of these. Be it securing our lives with high quality insulators or ensuring the life time protection with the Life Insurance and Asset Management program, Aditya Birla Group has covered it all. And this is not just enough, the Aditya Birla Centre for community initiatives and rural development is reaching over 7.5 million needy people annually. With all these sectors covered Aditya Birla Group is not just big in my life but in the life of every Indian with all its contributions right from the freedom struggle to the technological self-reliance we as a nation have achieved today.
