Imagine being at home, with your parents pampering you and trying to fulfill all your wishes. Now imagine the times when you got upset at them over issues that seem petty at present.Life seemed difficult then but now, most of us yearn to get those days back. I used to be a person who would never talk to someone unless they spoke to me first because I, simply, thought they wouldn’t like it. The first time when I was stepping out of my home after completing my engineering, I just felt I wouldn’t be able to make it. Being from Madhya Pradesh it was difficult for me to think about going to Kerala for my TCS training. It made my stomach churn to imagine not being able to make good friends. I knew I wouldn’t be able to initiate conversations which can make people find me rude. My parents always pushed me to talk to the children of their colleagues during office parties but in vain.

I finally had to go to Trivandrum and although my father was a little skeptical if I will be able to manage things there, my mother was sure I will fight myself and come out of zone if the situation required. As I stepped into the hostel in Trivandrum, I promised myself that I wouldn’t give my parents a chance to worry for me anymore. It took me a few days to talk to people besides my roommate and the friends she made, but by the end of my training which lasted for 3 months, I made friends with the hostel caretaker and even his father, an elderly but lively person. Those 3 months, away from my family and close friends helped me discover another side of me and I fought with my emotions to become someone ready to face the world.

That situation made me realize the importance of accepting a change and molding myself to thrive in this fast-paced world. Since then, things have been so different for me. I engage with so many different people and know about them. I am a part of a committee in college that organizes the annual national B-school fest in TAPMI and I make calls and meet potential sponsors on a regular basis some of which I even manage to convert. My family and friends are really proud of how I managed to change myself to become a better version of me.
