It has been truly appreciated that motivation is a catalyst that drives the life force inside any man's subconscious. It is this motivation which when one is deprived of, one falls into the abyss called monotony.

When talking about the greatest challenge that I have faced in my life, I would have to highlight the one year that I spent in bed, depressed, trying to overcome the ills of life. It is easy for people to get up and walk out, finish off their daily chores while some of us lay low, even in the easiest circumstances. When life gives you lemons make lemonade, or so they say. But the question is, whom does this imply to? Not everyone is capable enough to handle the hardships of everyday existence. It is not necessary that all those who’ve succumbed to depression have been victimized by any physical or mental trauma. For me, the pressure of achieving excellence, drove my mind to its own exile wherein I was shattered into shards, like window pane hit by a stone. In actuality, however, it was me, not my surroundings, not my parents, not my peers, who had built a fort around my grievances. It was my own expectations that had burdened my shoulders with gargantuan responsibilities.

Waking up in the morning was a struggle for me, my eating habits had become disorderly and most of all, I had started lagging in academics. I myself wasn’t aware of what was going on inside my brain. This rollercoaster ride was at its peak when I started experiencing symptoms of physical distress. Shivering palms and a fatigued body, left my eighteen year old mind aghast. I knew I had to overcome this struggle or else my body would be a hollow pile of bones.

Eventually, it took a great deal of support from my parents and my friends to bring me back to the mundane business of normality. However, this experience has completely changed my mindset and made me overcome the problems with a smile on my face. Now, after having overcome the pangs of depression, I lead my days with immense gratitude for what I have and what I am, rather than in the dilemma of whether or not my days are fruitful. A firm believer in the Irish luck, I own my mistakes and strive to become a better human being hitherto the whole human experience.
