Part A - ABG has been a leader in the Indian market providing diverse products and services ranging from cement, staple fibre, fashion garments to insurance and financial services. For me, products from the ABG have been an essential part of my life for years. Before joining my B-school, I filled my wardrobe with business formals and brands like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly and Van Heusen have been my go-to brands always. I had my home renovated last year and the choice of cement for us was simply UltraTech cement because of the trust we have in products from the ABG.
I have always been a shopping enthusiast and prefer visiting stores having a good variety of products. When I first visited Pantaloons, I was really mesmerized by the wide variety of collections which had clothes from different brands, and of each price range. Since then, I have been a frequent buyer from the Pantaloons store because it has never happened for me to not find something desirable after a visit to the store.
Apart from the product quality, what impressed me was also the initiatives that ABG takes to contribute to the society. Treating patients, feeding children and training people are some of the large number of initiatives taken by ABG that has also played a role in taking ABG to the level it has reached in the Indian market.
Part B - To achieve success, one must have the ability to face challenges with confidence and overcome them with persistence. The task of getting admission into one of the top b-schools was itself a challenge for me since a lot was going on in my life at that time. I had a wedding in my family, college examinations and CAT all in the same month. It was a learning lesson for me about how to manage multiple things at once and how to multi-task effectively.
A manager's work is to manage people and resources in a way that is best for the organization. He must have the ability to multi-task. The life lesson that 2018 taught me made me a better candidate to take up managerial positions in future. It made me a person who knows how to effectively manage time and meet the deadlines. Studying in one of the top b-schools, one must be efficient enough to complete the variety of tasks within short deadlines. I find myself experienced in meeting several deadlines at once making the b-school journey a little easier for me.
I believe that everyone faces challenges in their life from time to time but what matters is how they are able to fight those challenges. Only the one who doesn't accept failure and is determined enough to overcome the challenge, no matter how intimidating it is, comes out to be a real winner in life.
