The summer internship as we know is probably one of the most important part of the MBA curriculum as it enlightens us regarding the bells and whistles that go around in the actual world in the industry. It allows us to join the dots between the classroom learning and the industry scenario.

The start of my MBA journey started with the aspiration to join a company which is into my field of interest and pursue my Summer Internship there. After a few initial months from the commencement of the MBA programme as we had just started to cope with the busy schedule, came the testing period of summer placements. Renowned companies started to pour in with varied rolls and responsibilities on offer. It was a challenging task to beat the crowd and come up as the most desirable candidate for the company I wished to intern in. Luckily, my preparations and had work paid off as I got the opportunity to work for the kind of company I wanted. KocharTech was in the business of providing Internet of Things or popularly known as IoT solutions backed with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. IoT is currently a major buzzword around the corporate town and is a crucial part of the Industry 4.0 concept. I felt absolutely privileged to have gotten a chance to gain real-time hands-on experience in this field.

To start with the company, KocharTech is an organisation that aims at enhancing customer experience through technology. KocharTech was one of the first info-tech companies to be born out of Amritsar; launched in 2003, with the aim to enhance customer experiences through engagement. They offer solutions in Business Processes Management (BPM) and backend operations, Internet of Things (IoT), Device and Knowledge Management. KocharTech aims to drive digital transformation using People, Processes and Technology. The managed service platform and solutions help Operators, Enterprises and Consumers to adapt and grow with technology in the Digital Age. KocharTech has engineered customer experiences and solutions for some of the leading brands in the country, data and analytics stand at the core of KocharTech. They have empowered businesses across industries for over 15 years. In its 15 years, KocharTech has grown with over 2500 employees, and is now stationed at six locations in the country.

The role offered to me was that of Market Research. It is quite an exciting domain to work in and forms the core of marketing. A marketing analysis is to study the dynamism of the market. It is the attractiveness of a special market in a specific industry.  Marketing analysis is basically a business plan that presents information regarding the market in which one is operating. It deals with various factors. A marketing analysis is done so that one can formulate a strategy on how to run their business. By taking into consideration certain factors, a clear picture on how the business should be run. By assessing the company’s strengths and weaknesses, a strategy can be made on which factors to focus upon. Looking at external factors like situations which may provide information on opportunities and threats.  Economic factors, political instabilities or even social changes can give opportunities which can be seized in order to perform better.

To come to a conclusion, I would like to mention my mentor who guided me throughout these 2 months. He had been an amazing guide who helped me through each process right from the beginning from induction. He has played a pivotal role in my successful completion of my project and through his methods, I have gained a world of experience.

I would like to advise my fellow juniors and friends to prepare well for the type of company they aspire to intern in and be dedicated towards it. Summer Internship is probably the best part of the MBA course and is worth all the anticipation and excitement. It has so much to offer that helps in the overall growth and development of oneself. So buckle up and work hard for your internships. All the best!
