One of the biggest challenges for me till high school was handling multiple tasks simultaneously. I was never efficient in switching between different tasks. I was preparing for IIT and other competitive exams along with my class 12 board exams. Due to my lack of multitasking I was not able to manage both these studies and scored way below my expectations.
While doing my B.Tech I decided to pursue for MBA. So, naturally again the question came up - job or MBA preparation? I was in a big dilemma what to choose and what not to. Then I realised this was becoming a bottleneck for me which was hampering my career all along. So, I finally decided to take up a job as well as study for MBA entrance exams. Doing a job and studying needs you to manage your time efficiently. It puts a huge pressure on you mentally as well as physically. It was more of a challenge to me than anything else. I told myself that if I back off now, I can never succeed in life. This is the one battle that I must fight. So, I decided to take up a job. I started working in an IT firm in Kolkata as UI Developer. As most of you know, working in IT industry is not easy due to tight deadlines and long working hours. For many months I slept only for couple of hours a day to manage time for studies. Finally, after a year of hard work, I got good scores and got admitted in a very reputed college for my MBA.
During that year, I learnt so many things that improved me as a person and still helping me in many ways. I was able to fund for my exam fees and application fees because of the job which gave me a sense of achievement. And I was able to finally overcome my weakness. Right now, I am more capable of multi-tasking. Those few tough months taught me time management, patience and gave me a lot of confidence. It was a battle which I won.
