Part A

A US $44.3 billion corporation, the Aditya Birla Group is in the League of Fortune 500. Anchored by an extraordinary force of over 120,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities, the Group is built on a strong foundation of stakeholder value creation. With over seven decades of responsible business practices, our businesses have grown into global powerhouses in a wide range of sectors – metals, textiles, carbon black, telecom and cement. Today, over 50% of Group revenues flow from overseas operations that span 34 countries in North and South America, Africa and Asia. The conglomerate has created tremendous job opportunities for people from all over the globe. I personally use Vodafone Idea Limited which is the No. 1 in telephony. I am a regular shopper at pantaloons. I have used Ultratech Cement for constructing my house. If I had to describe Aditya Birla Group in one word, I would say  “Trustworthy”.

Part B

I would like to share a story of my 12th from Kota. Kota is a small city which has converted into a coaching hub. Like lakhs of other IIT aspirants, I started my journey in Kota in 2012 after completing my 10th. With big dreams to pursue and a heart full of emotions I shifted to Kota. The classes with such a huge batch strength were completely new to me. Here almost everyone was a topper from his or her school and was used to a sort of personal attention from teachers and peers. In the very first day we were made to realize that every student in the class is your competitor. Consequently, this led to rivalry and isolation among the aspirants. To me this led to frustration and depression. Time passes by and we somehow completed our 11th, after which few aspirants gave up and shifted to their hometown. I somehow gathered the strength and continued my fight and started with my 12th.

In a few months one of my roommate committed suicide. This incident led to multiple thoughts and in some time, I had completely stopped communicating with anyone. My landlady who was a Doctor observed this and advised me that I need mental support from my parents. I was very reluctant as I did not want my parents to be worried. Ultimately my landlady asked me to vacate the room. In this situation I anyhow had to inform my father about this, he left for Kota on a short notice. He understood the situation and we shifted to a new room. I still was not ready to have a conversation, he left in few days to apply for an unpaid leave for four months. This made me feel very guilty. Once he was back, I had a long conversation with him after a long time. He told me how he had failed in 12th but kept moving in life and about his various life experiences. Coincidently I read “The Race” By Dr. D.H. Groberg on the same night. I could completely relate to this poem from CBSE textbook and it completely changed me. I looked at my father who was sleeping by then and made a firm decision that I would “get up and win the race”. I would give it my best shot without worrying about the outcome.

I started from scratch and completed my syllabus in less than 60 days. I completed my  12th with decent grades. This incident in my life helped me to forge a wonderful bond with my father and to learn the most important lesson in my life, which is “Rise each time you fall”.
