From an under-confident and low on self-esteem person to an ambitious and confident girl, I have come a long way. There was a time when I didn’t believe in myself, I doubted everything I did. Then the most transformational even of my life happened. I topped my school in class 12th. It must sound like a regular things for some but for me it was life changing. I couldn't believe I beat everyone who has always been ahead of me all my life. That was when I felt like I can do anything if I work hard enough for it. I started believing in myself. It made me ambitious and confident. I started aiming for the things I would've given up on earlier. One such thing was CAT. Getting into an IIM became a dream. I tried and failed the first time. It shattered me more than it should have. It made me feel like the biggest achievement of my life has been taken away from me and that it was just chance and not my hardwork. I thought I am not good enough and almost gave up. But giving up would have meant that I am, after all, not the new and improved person I claimed to be. I gathered up all the courage I could and started working for it again because I was fighting with myself, proving to myself that I can do anything. This time I worked harder. Dealing with my insomnia and constant fear of not being able to make it, I kept working. When the results came, I thought I had lost the battle one more time but this time I didn’t doubt myself, I believed that I have what it takes and no matter how many times I’m gonna have to try I am never going to give up on my dream. I am living my dream now. All it took for me was to believe in myself. The belief that I can keep making myself better and better.
Now, how is that even relevant to Aditya Birla Group? Here’s how:
“Great businesses are never built on the quick sands of opportunism. I reiterate that, if living by our values means, perhaps growing at a pace slower than we would otherwise have liked, so be it.” - Kumar Mangalam Birla
This is a quote I can completely relate to. It’s sometimes okay to achieve a goal a little later but what matters is to be passionate and determined about what you do, some of the values that ABG believes in.
There is a lot to learn from ABG than one can think of. ABG has its presence everywhere, from the roads you travel on to the aluminium foil you pack you food in; from the telecom network you use to the clothes you wear. And the best part is, each and everyone of these things have a uniqueness that is unavoidable. Isn’t that what Managers are supposed to be? Good at everything and being able to handle it all.
Another thing to learn from is ABG’s value system. A value system is the most distinguishing feature which makes a person or company stand out. The ‘Power 5’, as they call it, is something that a lot of us can relate to and strive to be better by applying those values in our lives.
The association and dedication of ABG towards sustainability is commendable. It shows that business is not just about profits and numbers, it’s also about being socially responsible. THINK ABOUT TOMORROW TODAY, a simple ideology that can be applied to anything in life and lead us to being responsible.
