Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big In My Life?
Aditya Birla Group, an Indian conglomerate, is continuously working for the last 162 years on its mission to deliver value to its customers, shareholders as well as its employees and it has made a mark in the country by delivering products in almost all the spheres. Aditya Birla has had an everlasting presence in my life ever since my childhood. ABG has various brands under its umbrella which has been part of my life’s transition from a child to a teenager to a working individual and finally, as I currently embark on my journey to be a future leader.
The biggest dream of a middle-class family is to build their own house and that was the time I came across the brand “Ultra Tech” cement and I have spent almost 15 years of my life in that house that witnessed all the ups and downs of my life.
When I entered the college and decided to buy a new phone, the only line that was going on my mind was “What an Idea Sir ji”, and I bought the Idea sim and that surely changed my life as in time of monetary crises Idea was giving services at very low prices. I am very particular about my clothes and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) takes care of my ever- changing need in every possible way. Whether it is casual clothes (Forever 21) or Formal clothes (Van Heusen, Allen Solly). I still remember the day I got shortlisted for the interview and I had to buy my formal clothing and the first brand that caught my attention was Allen Solly and after wearing that it boosts my confidence to face the world.
I believe in giving something back to the society and, in this regard, ABG’s CSR initiatives have always inspired me. Their contributions in various fields like healthcare, education, employment and many more, are remarkable. ABG, through projects like providing mid-day meals, solar lamps and skill training to children, teaches us how a brand can be both successful and humble at the same time.
How I have made an impact?
“Shramam Vina Na Kimapi Sadhyam”
This is the motto (a Sanskrit Shloka, which means - if you want to be a successful person, you have to work hard for it) of IIT Roorkee, though I remember hearing the same shloka from my Father since a very young age. When I was preparing for my JEE exam it was very difficult for me as I was a vernacular student, but my father encouraged & motivated me to take this as a challenge and start preparing for the exam. In my first attempt I secured a score that could have gotten me into some decent colleges but not my dream institute- IIT. Hence, I took the bold decision of dropping out for one year & put all my efforts so that I can get through to the IITs. During this period, a lot of people criticized me for my audacious decision of opting out from admission and instead wasting one year for IITs which, they believed, was too bold of a risk. It was an unwanted bet that I was making, they said. But my parents & especially my father always believed in me & supported me during all my difficult times. I finally got into IIT-R in my second attempt & this was the time I realized that everything is possible if we have blessings from our elders.
To my further dismay, my issues with the English language put me at a disadvantage during the Common Admission Test (an exam that the MBA aspirants of the country are supposed to take). But being the strong-willed person that I am, I chose not to give up and gave it all I had. The result being that I am now a part of a brand like IIM Ranchi and am at a position to get the opportunity of writing my take on the ABG.
I believe I conquered all my problems with my patience and hard work that still motivates me. By this time, I have imbibed a peculiar personality to take bolder decisions and to remain calm and composed in critical situations.
