Aditya Birla Group (ABG), a $44.3 billion company established in 1857, is an Indian multinational conglomerate. With a presence in 34 countries from 42 nationalities across the globe, it employs around 1,20,000 people and has impacted millions of lives worldwide. It has its businesses spread across industries like insurance, financing, wealth management, retail, cement, tires, copper, aluminum, etc.
My journey with ABG has been a very long one. At various stages of my life, I got exposed to various products from the businesses it owns. It started from owning an Idea-Vodafone prepaid connection since my teenage days which kept me connected to my near and dear ones. I got exposed to brands like People, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Forever 21, Ted Baker, Louie Phillipe, etc. and regularly started shopping from them. These enabled me to look my best and defined my personality. Last year, when my house was being renovated, UltraTech cement helped build the strong foundations of the house we live in. Along with these, 0.1 million mt of UltraTech cement went into the construction of the Bandra-Worli Sealink which connects Mumbai on either side. This eased my stay in the city tremendously.
ABG has and continues to be big in my life and positively impacts it in multiple ways. Built on strong principles, it adds value to my life and of millions, while striving towards sustainability.
How I overcame challenges to achieve ambitions in life so far
Two things form an important part of every individual – Ambitions, and failures. Like any other person, I have had many ambitions throughout life. Right from childhood, when I aimed to be the best runner, to my high school days where I focused on topping my class, I always felt something was missing, something I wanted to strive for. The need for more had always driven me in life.
Born into a family of doctors, I always grew up in an academically rich environment. During my undergrad days, I was unable to get into the stream of choice and was given a chance to change it by attaining a certain grade-point at the end of year one. Studying harder than anybody while juggling multiple activities was tough. Due to the late declaration of results, my college refused to provide this option after the first year. Along with this I also had the task of studying new subjects by myself post branch change due to the shortage of time before exams. During this, the only thing that helped me was faith in myself and hard work. In the end, I was able to change my stream and do well in it.
Not all difficulties can be overcome, some of them need to be ridden through to come out on the other side. Believing in oneself and in The Almighty, willingness to work towards the impossible and striving to become a better version of myself is what has helped me achieve my ambitions so far.
