The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade hosted representatives from the Placement Committees of some of the premier B-Schools of the country at its Delhi campus on the 9th of June for a conference to discuss common areas of concerns surrounding the recruitment process and coming up with a mechanism to best protect student interests.
This gathering, dubbed Maitri 2018, was the second edition of the conference, with the first being held by IIM-Ahmedabad in January 2017.
Maitri is a forum for the Placement Committees of the best B-Schools in the country to exchange best practices, share concerns and devise methods of dealing with them collectively.
The attendees of Maitri 2018 included student representatives from placement committees of IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Lucknow, IIM-Indore, MDI Gurgaon, XLRI Jamshedpur and IIFT Delhi & Kolkata.
One of the agendas of Maitri 2018 was to discuss the formation of an All India B-School Placements Committee which would perform a function similar to the existing All-IITs Placements Committee.
The B-Schools decided to abide by a MoU to collectively take actions in the interest of the students and adopt best practices from fellow B-Schools to improve the overall efficiency of the recruitment process.
